Immediately, about ten guards rushed into the hall and surrounded Darryl. All the guests started to back away, and judging from their expression; they could not help but feel smug that Darryl had finally met his just end.
However, Darryl did not seem to be panicking. He chuckled softly, and his internal energy erupted from his body. The guards did not even have time to react before they were sent flying against the walls.
That made Grady, Donnie, and the rest of the guests gasp out in horror. They had not seen him for a month, and he had come back even stronger? It was so silent in the hall that one could hear a pin drop.
"Huh? Miss Lolita is here!" someone said, creating another wave of commotion. Soon, they saw a graceful figure entering the hall. She was drop-dead gorgeous, though a little pale in the face.
Yes, it was Lolita, who had been locked up in her room by Donnie all those while. Donnie wanted her to join in the celebration of the Damien family taking control over Pearl City.
Lolita trembled when she saw Darryl. 'What's he doing here?' she thought.
Darryl was filled with deep sorrow when he saw her and wanted to go up to greet her but stopped himself when he sensed the coldness in her eyes. He could tell she was still trying to keep her distance from him after what she thought he did to her grandfather.
"Lolita! You look great today! Cheer up, buttercup! From today onward, the Damien family will have control over Pearl City!" Grady said with a smile.
Donnie quickly nodded. "Yes, it's just as Master Grady had said. After the banquet, I will arrange for you to be wedded to Master Grady. I know you still hold some hatred toward me but just know that I'm doing all this for your own good."
Lolita remained impassive as if she had given up on life.
However, Darryl seemed to be shocked by what he heard. He glared at Donnie and asked, "What did you say? You're going to give Lolita's hand to Grady?"
Donnie's blood ran cold when he saw how Darryl was looking at him. 'Man, his eyes are so scary.'
However, Grady was not cowed by Darryl at all. He pointed at Darryl and said, "Darryl, stop pretending like you care about Lolita! Her grandfather is dead because of you, and you fled! How dare you come back and cause trouble here! The twelve paladins would be here soon, so you had better leave while you still can!" Grady was looking at him triumphantly and mockingly at the same time.
Darryl's eyes were bloodshot, and he did not want to waste his breath on him. So, with a slight movement, he appeared in front of Grady and slapped him without warning.
"And let me tell you something! Lolita would never become your wife. As for Old Master Damien's death, you and I both know I was not the one who caused it! I have no fear of the twelve paladins, so let them come!"
The hall descended into silence again. All the guests were filled with rage. How dare Darryl slap Grady?
Darryl ignored them all and looked at Lolita. "Don't worry, Lolita. I promise I'll explain everything to you soon."
