Lolita bit her lips and said, "Leave me be and go." Ever since Grady showed her his true colors at the beach, she realized he might have something to do with her grandfather's death.
She was very happy to see Darryl again, but the happiness was overshadowed by the fact that the Damien family had fallen under Donnie's control, who was also colluding with Grady. Besides, more importantly, how would Darryl be able to fend himself against the 12 paladins?
"Lolita, don't worry about me," Darryl said soothingly with a smile.
"Darryl! How dare you hit me! You're dead now!" Grady shouted, who had finally recovered from the shock. The other guests joined him in their shouts.
"That is too much!"
"Have you no shame, Darryl?"
Again, Darryl chose to ignore their accusations. He turned to look at Grady and, in a menacing tone, said, "We'll see who's the dead one today." Then, he swept his cold gaze across everyone and said, "At Old Master Damien's funeral, I've promised you all that I will make you all pay for what you did to me, and today is that day! Kneel and apologize to me!"
His cold words echoed through the hall, and the hall became deathly silent. However, the next second, everyone burst out laughing.
"What did he say? Did he really ask us to kneel and apologize to him?"
"Did he really think he could take on all of us?"
"He must have forgotten how he had to escape Pearl City with his tail between his legs!"
Lolita bit her lips and shouted at Darryl, "Don't act so rashly!" She knew he was strong, but the others had the advantage of numbers on their side.
"Don't worry about me, Lolita!" Darryl said with a smile on his face. Then he turned to face the crowd again. "Don't you think I've come prepared? Besides, there won't be a reason for you to be at this banquet if I were to leave."
Everyone was astonished by his bravado. How could a fugitive make it sound as if he was the most prominent guest at the banquet?
Grady was the first to recover. He looked mockingly at Darryl and said, "My, what thick face you have! You do know that everyone came here to celebrate the Damien family gaining control of Pearl City, right? Besides, the 12 paladins will be here soon. You say there's no reason to continue on the banquet if you leave? Ha! As if a nobody like you can speak for the Temple of Light! I bet you're doing all this to get back on Lolita's good side so that you can come back to the Damien family. After all, they'll be the most powerful family in Pearl City!"
Grady was a hundred percent sure that Darryl was only putting up an act, as did everyone else.
"Master Grady is right!"
"Darryl always had a penchant for lying, even before joining the Damien family."
'What a bunch of dipsh*ts!' thought Darryl. He smiled and said to Grady, "Come back to the Damien family? I wouldn't even have come to a crappy party like this if it were not for Lolita!"
