However, the Cloud Valley sect had always kept to themselves, so few people knew about them. Their sect master was 60 years old Cranos Blanc. His power was profound, and he was also skilled in Chinese metaphysics. Amongst the long line of sect masters, he was the most outstanding of them all.
On the square behind the manor, the disciples of the Cloud Valley sect were neatly positioned; all of them were working hard at practicing their martial art skills. Cranos, sitting on the chair on the sideline, was giving out pointers from time to time.
Suddenly, an earth-shaking tremor came from somewhere close to the manor, and all the disciples stopped what they were doing as confusion and fear colored their faces. However, Cranos remained seated, but he had a grave expression on his face.
An elder came quickly, and he respectfully said to Cranos, "Master, the tremors came from the forbidden area. It might be the emergence of a treasure. There have always been strange occurrences like this in the past 20 years whenever a treasure made an appearance."
The entire square descended into an uproar as excitement buzzed from all the disciples. They turned to look at Cranos, hoping that there was indeed a treasure near the manor.
Cranos' face remained impassive. He shook his head and said, "Don't spout nonsense. A problem has most likely occurred with the formation I've been researching."
Even though his expression was calm, he could not disguise the conflict in his eyes.
Hearing that, everyone exhaled disappointedly. They were excited about nothing.
"Father!" a handsome 20-something man with chiseled features shouted. He was Cranos' only son, Skylar Blanc.
Ever since he was a child, Skylar had always been brilliant. He was a rare genius in cultivation. He surpassed the Martial Emperor level when he was only 15 years old, and his power had grown even more unfathomable. There was no doubt that, if it were not for the Blanc family's ancestral rule of not venturing out into the world, Skylar would have turned the world of cultivators upside down.
"Father, what's going on? Why did a tremor suddenly come from the forbidden area?" Skylar asked once he had reached Cranos.
"There's nothing to worry about. Something probably happened to the formation I've been researching. Let's go check on it together," Cranos said calmly.
Then he turned to his disciples and said, "Carry on as before and don't slack off!"
Soon, the two of them arrived at the forbidden area's secret chamber. Everything was normal. There were no signs of damage on the formation Cranos had set up.
Confused, Skylar asked, "Father, nothing is wrong here. The formation is fine, so where did the tremor come from?"
Cranos' face was solemn. Instead, he said nothing and walked to a wall and opened the mechanism hidden there. The next second, a dark passage opened up before their eyes.
Skylar was stunned. He had gone to that secret chamber countless times, but that was the first time he knew of a passage hidden behind the wall.
