Perfect Husband, The Destined One novel Chapter 4023

Darryl's face was abnormally calm while his heart raced furiously.

When they made it into the blood formation, it meant that he was halfway to success already.

Then, he saw Grunt retract his hands before he turned around and soared toward the exit.

Grunt managed to turn around and cast an evil smirk at Darryl. "Oh, Darryl Darby, you must have really wanted to take down that formation and return with glory. I suggest you stop having such foolish ambitions. Oh, and this is for taking Princess Dorothy from me, you b*stard! Consider it payback. To hell with you."

Spitting out those words filled Grunt with gleeful satisfaction as he cackled out loud, speeding up and zooming away toward the bloody fog.

F*ck!

Darryl was instantly filled with rage. How could he have expected such betrayal from Grunt over a personal matter and at a time as crucial as that?

With Grunt's exit, Darryl was not strong enough to deflect the terrifying forces of the blood formation by himself. The protective shield around him disappeared with a resounding shatter.

Without the shield, the terrifying sinister energy of the blood formation came rushing in. Darryl hummed as the forces sent him flying backward, landing hard on a stone totem and losing consciousness immediately.

Just then, outside the blood formation.

Grunt rushed out of the bloody fog, returning to the tens of thousands of soldiers.

What?

The soldiers' faces creased with confusion when they saw him.

What had happened?

Did Grunt and the Prince Consort not enter the formation together? Why did Grunt return alone?

Grunt put on a mournful expression—he appeared to be in utmost grief. He said, "The Prince Consort was far too reckless, insisting on entering the blood formation. He wouldn't listen to me no matter how hard I tried to stop him."

What?

The soldiers froze in shock at the news.

How reckless of the Prince Consort to enter the blood formation on his own!

Admittedly, Grunt had put up a great act. None of the soldiers suspected a thing—they had fallen for his lies.

Grunt cast a look behind him with eyes full of regret. "The Prince Consort burst into the formation on his own. I'm afraid the odds are against him. I must return to report to His Majesty immediately. All of you shall remain here looking out for anything that happens at the formation."

Immediately after that, Grunt set off toward the Jade Fairyland with a few soldiers.
