"I'm going to kill you! Argh!"
Amid his fury, Skylar let out a crazed shout. He moved to rush forward to kill Kendall, but the fiend soul energy in his body was completely out of his control.
The entire Prayer Tower trembled from the force as a flash of terrifying fiend soul energy radiated from Skylar's body.
A few seconds later, Skylar could no longer take the force and keeled over. He had fallen unconscious.
At the same time, fierce energy emanated from his body.
Kendall did not hesitate; she moved to sit cross-legged and began to absorb the energy that leaked from Skylar.
Kendall was not a fiend descendant, so she could not absorb Skylar's fiend soul energy. However, she had combined the ancient poisonous centipede's internal energy with her own. The ancient poisonous centipede was a creature that had lived for almost ten thousand years, and many fiend folks had taken it as a pet. That had forged a close bond between the fiend race and the beast. Under those circumstances, Kendall could combine the fiend soul energy with her own.
Of course, Kendall did not know anything about that history. That was a last-minute decision, and she was lucky it had worked.
It was unclear how long had passed when Kendall had finally absorbed the fiend soul energy. Her sinister face looked even more evil as her body radiated with an impossibly strong aura.
Skylar, at that point, was already unconscious. His face was deathly pale, and his body appeared fragile.
He was a fiend descendant. It was hard to kill him entirely, even with Kendall absorbing his fiend soul energy.
Kendall moved to stand up when she noticed something in Skylar's arms. Out of curiosity, she plucked it out of his grasp to take a look at it.
It was a golden scroll, which Skylar had meant to give to Yvette.
Kendall opened it to peek at its contents and was overjoyed when she saw what was in it.
It was perfect.
