Mira opened the bathroom door and walked out dressed in neat clothes.
Adam still had the towel around his waist but he also wore a camouflaged training coat. He stood in front of the French window, with a cigarette in his hand, but he didn't smoke. Instead, he looked down.
Mira also walked over, but Anthea had already disappeared.
She didn't know what he was looking at.
"Captain Chin..."
Mira shouted and asked him awkwardly, "Is my task finished?"
In fact, she wasn't working in this city, but in the neighboring city. She came here yesterday morning because she had come to visit her husband in the army.
She was a soldier's spouse. Adam and her husband were superior and subordinate, comrades-in-arms, and also friends who were on good terms. So she called Adam Captain Chin as her husband called him.
Mira's husband hadn't finished his mission when she arrived yesterday, and Adam was responsible for her reception. On the way, he asked her whether she could do him a favor...
"Yes, thank you." Adam said calmly, "I've asked Carter to come here, and he will take you to the army."
"Okay, got it!" Mira nodded.
When she turned around and was about to left, something came to her mind. She handed the things she had picked up just now to Adam and said, "Captain Chin, this is the medicine that Anthea left at the door."
"Thanks." Adam reached out to take it.
The sound of the door closing could be heard and the room returned to silence.
Adam stood still. The cigarette in his hand had somehow been burnt into ashes. The ashes were blown away by the wind coming in through the window and gently scattered in the air.
He stared at the bag in his hand.
There were two boxes of cold medicine and a small bottle of anti-inflammatory medicine in it.
Adam suddenly remembered the situation when she bought medicine for him, and his heart was filled with emotions.
She was like a blazing sun, shining on his boring and dull life.
Such passionate love in such a vigorous age...
"Adam, Anthea is still young and immature. So she often has immature thoughts. She would rush into something even she herself was not clear about!!"
"I've already lost Hendrix. I'm guilty for him. The only thing I can do is to take good care of Anthea for him. I can't let the child go astray. Only in this way, Hendrix can rest in peace! Adam, do you understand??"
His father-in-law's words still lingered in his mind.
True. She was only eighteen years old this year, and there were many things that she hadn't made most proper considerations. She might take her dependence on him as love.
When she should graduate from university and enters the society, there would be countless possibilities and various kinds of people in her life. She will realize that it's a mistake...
The emotions at the bottom of Adam's eyes slowly dissipated and gradually returned to silence.
His heart also sank into the abysm of silence.
His phone received a message. Adam picked it up and the content of the message was very short, "I want to go back!"
It was 9 a.m in the morning the next day in the airport lobby.
Just like when she got on the train, Anthea was holding a backpack in her arms.
Without extra luggage, she had come in a hurry with impetus and unreserved courage to love. But at the moment, the reality had broken her heart and she could only retreat under insurmountable difficulties.
In the morning, Adam came to pick her up, helped her to check out from hotel and had a silent breakfast with her, and then sent her to the airport.
Anthea didn't say a word, as if her vitality had been taken away.
The saying "impulsion was the devil" was correct.
When she came, she traveled a thousand miles in two days and two nights. Going back, it took her only four hours by plane. In the end, it was nothing but her hallucination.
Anthea looked at Adam, who was in military uniform. He had handsome facial features and his shoulders were dropped and broad. He had a narrow waist and long legs, and he had an imposing manner as well as the majesty of a soldier.
Now that he had finally sent her away as he had wished.
Anthea didn't want to come to Francis all her life...
She blinked her eyes and hid the tear in her eyes.
The radio began to urge the passengers for security check. After suooressing all the sobs in her throat, Anthea said, "Uncle Adam!"
"Yes." Adam answered indifferently.
