Adam did it.
Anthea was sure of it when she took the first bite.
When they were together in the past, he would often cook for her. Though standing in front of the stove with an apron outside of his military uniform, he still looked very manly, like a general who was commanding thousands of troops.
Adam liked makng fried dumplings for her.
He cooked the quick-frozen dumplings and fried them in a flat pan.
It was an ordinary dish, but he made it incredibly delicious. She really liked it.
Afraid of being discovered by others, Anthea looked down at her dumplings, pretending that nothing usual had happened. She ate all the dumplings in the box.
Stars were twinkling in the dark, night sky.
The old chief was still in a coma and was lying peacefully in the bed behind the glass window of the ICU.
His wife was old, so she did not have the energy to stay here all night. At about nine o'clock in the evening, she went to rest in the hotel opposite with Amelie's help. Apart from the medical staff, there were soldiers taking shifts outside of the ward.
Late at night, the military hospital quieted down.
A steady sound of footsteps sounded in the corridor.
A pair of black military boots landed on the ground -Adam, all and strong, walked out of the elevator.
Seeing him, the guarding soldier immediately stood straight and saluted him.
But Adam did not look at him. Instead, he frowned deeply and looked at the person on the bench outside the ICU.
A small figure was curled up on it. Her shoes fell to the ground, and she was holding her bent legs with both hands, facing toward the ICU's glass wall.
Half of her face was on her arms, and her long, curling eyelashes cast two fan-shaped shadows on her face.
Adam's face darkened. "Why didn't she go back to rest?"
The soldier looked over and explained, "Dr. Lee said she had to stay here. The old chief has just had the operation and is in dangerous period tonight. If there are any bad reactions after the operation, she can
handle it immediately!"
Adam listened attentively.
He placed his jacket in the car. Right now, he was only wearing a military shirt.
Adam then said, "Take off your coat."
"Huh? The guard was dumbfounded.
Adam looked serious and cold. No one dared to provoke him, who was known as the Hell-king in the army. So, the soldier quickly took off his military coat and handed it over with both hands.
Then, the soldier saw Adam stride to the bench in front of him.
As he approached, he changed to light steps.
He was afraid of waking her up. He reached her and slowly sat next to her.
She would catch a cold if she fell asleep like this!
Adam raised her hand, carefully opened the large coat, and covered her with it.
Anthea was still sleeping soundly, breathing evenly.
She was exhausted!
Last night, Anthea had just been on the night shift and had hardly rested. After getting off work this morning, she received a call from her teacher, Vincent. She then rushed to this military hospital.
She was very careful about the old chief's case and did not dare to slack off in the slightest. After confirming the surgical operation plan, she kept on preparing for it. When she finally finished dealing with everything, she sat down and fell asleep fast.
As the coat covered her up, from her head to her feet, her eyelashes trembled slightly. She must feel the warmth.
The lights in the corridor were on, and her sleeping side face with long lashes was bathed in the light. She was like a quiet and delicate doll, and Adam felt an urge to touch her skin.
Adam stared at her intently, with deep affection in his eyes.
He lifted his hand to caress her cheeks.
