Crystal talked on the phone for about five minutes.
When she hung up the phone, maybe she didn't even notice it herself, that she had secretly breathed a sigh of relief, as if she had completed some kind of task by making the phone call.
A female volunteer, who was standing in the shadows together with Crystal, asked curiously, "Crystal, your boyfriend's phone call? He loves you so deeply!"
Crystal was a bit embarrassed by what her companion said.
Her cheeks were slightly blushed. Before she could answer, Erik's voice interrupted their dialogue. "You have a boyfriend?"
Crystal was shocked.
She turned around and found that Erik was standing a few steps behind her.
The tall and straight figure of him almost could block all the sunlight. He had changed into a green military uniform as green as pine twigs, and had tidied up his military boots.
With the sunlight on his back, his facial features seemed like a sculpture.
Crystal suddenly felt that her brother was now as tall and straight as her father, Adam Chin. This was especially obvious when Erik was wearing his military uniform. His shoulders were prominent, and his chest was broad. He was indeed a very valiant and charming man.
"Brother..." She was somewhat distracted now.
The female volunteer elbowed Crystal's waist, and then she said in a low voice. "Yesterday, you fell into the arms of the soldier. Today, you call him brother'. Crystal, you are really awesome, aren't you?"
Crystal was speechless.
She touched her forehead and explained shyly, "He is really my brother!"
Ignoring her companion, Crystal ran to Erik and asked with a smile, "Erik, have you had your breakfast?"
Erik replied in a low voice, "Uh-huh."
Her eyebrows were as curved as they were when she made the phone call just now.
The muscles at the corners of his lips tightened, and he repeated what he just said, "Lil Star, you have a boyfriend now?"
Crystal scratched her head.
It seemed that she didn't know what to say, or maybe she was as shy as a little girl. She replied "Yes" in a very low voice.
Then, she lowered her head and felt a little embarrassed.
She had just reunited with Erik. After so many years of separation, the two of them both had a sense of alienation. She hadn't expected that she and Erik would discuss a private topic like whether she had a boyfriend so quickly.
But Crystal had a boyfriend indeed.
However, she and her boyfriend didn't stay with each other very often because there was seldom any chance for them to do so.
Before the summer vacation began, under the pressure from the boy, Crystal finally agreed to become his girlfriend. Then, the next day, she set off for Tbridge City as a volunteer in the medical team. In the future, Crystal wanted to become a doctor like her mother, who healed the wounded and rescued the dying. She was looking forward to gaining some experience as a medical worker.
There was no telecommunication signal in some remote areas of Tbridge City. For this reason, Crystal and her boyfriend had only a very limited number of chances to make phone calls to each other.
Unexpectedly, Erik had overheard the phone call between them by coincidence.
Crystal raised her head and saw that Erik was staring at her.
Her heart almost skipped a beat.
The look in his eyes...
Why did he see her as a girl who had betrayed him?
Crystal felt a little guilty, but she didn't know the reason. She touched her nose and asked carefully, "Erik, are you okay?"
The muscles near Erik's lips were heavily tightened, which made his chin look a little too sharp.
His dark eyes stared at her for two seconds, and then he pursed his lips and said, "I'm fine!"
Crystal didn't know what to say."..."
Carrying their bags in their hands, the soldiers on the platform were walking out in an orderly manner. The coach which was arranged to carry members of the medical team had also arrived.
