Chapter 60
Naomi looked at Sean’s pale face and smiled. So did Charles.
Sean had thick skin and was a playful adversary with Amelia. They would exchange banter whenever they were together, and this day was no exception. However, despite their teasing, the atmosphere was surprisingly good, and everyone seemed to forget the unpleasantness from the morning.
Amelia had other matters to attend to in the afternoon and left after a few words with Naomi. Following her departure, Sean also left.
Charles checked the time and asked Donna and Dean to rest at the hotel. He suggested they return in the evening, saying that he would stay at the hospital.
Donna and Dean would never have agreed in the past, but this time, they relented.
Naomi was surprised by this. If Amelia had not told her those things, she would not have sensed the elders‘ satisfaction with Charles, let alone understand their intentions. She finally understood.
“Rest well, Naomi. We’ll see you later,” said Donna and Dean caringly.
Naomi nodded. “I know. Don’t worry about me.”
With Charles around, the couple felt very reassured. After a few words with Charles, they left. Charles closed the door, returned to his chair, and sat down. Checking the time, he pulled up blanket for Naomi and said, “Have a nap.”
Naomi was not sleepy; she was more concerned about Charles. He had been taking care of her, running around and busy all the time, and she truly felt guilty.
“Charles, why don’t you go sleep on the small bed? You’ve worked hard these past few days.” They were friends. Though she understood his feelings, she still behaved as she always had.

Charles looked at the concern on her face and smilingly replied, “You go ahead and sleep. I’ll nap after you do.”
Naomi looked at him and realized he was being serious. She nodded and said, “Okay.”
She lay down on the bed, and Charles pulled the blanket up to cover her. Naomi’s hand instinctively followed, pulling at the blanket.
Charles evaded her hand, saying, “Don’t move. I’ll take care of it.”
Unaccustomed to being tended to, she always had the habitual urge to do things herself. Naomi felt somewhat helpless.
“Sorry to bother you, Charles.”
“Not a bother.” He covered her with the blanket, tucked in the corners, and straightened it out until there was nothing more to be done. Charles then sat back in the chair, watching her.
Chapter 60
However, Naomi was still looking at him.
Charles asked gently, “What’s wrong?”
Naomi kept looking at Charles. She saw the concern in his eyes, especially the emotions in those warm, tender eyes.
Amelia’s words danced in her mind, and Naomi thought she knew the answer. Charles did indeed have feelings for her.
