Chapter 38 Endless Petty Tricks
Linda felt very annoyed inwardly when Mary said that.
Mary never retorted to her regardless of what she said in the past. Now that Roslin was here, Mary started to look down on her and curry favor with Roslin.
Great wrath overwhelmed Linda but she suppressed her dissatisfaction.
She turned around and looked at Lucinda helplessly and anxiously.
Lucinda said, "Go ahead if you're in a rush."
After gaining Lucinda's approval, Linda left happily.
However, Mary was hesitant.
How should Roslin go to school later?
The villa neighborhood was halfway up Greencloud Hill and there were no cars to go down the hill. It would take at least forty minutes to go downhill on foot.
Besides, it would take another twenty minutes to walk to the bus station from the foot of the hill. The bus came every half hour.
After such a long journey, it would be after ten o'clock in the morning when Roslin arrived at the school.
She had just been transferred to that school. If she was late the second day, it would make her look quite bad.
Mary wanted to speak up but a female servant stopped her.
"Mary, stop talking. Didn't you see Mrs. Smith like Miss Linda more although Miss Roslin is her biological daughter? She doesn't like Miss Roslin much. If you speak, you'll suffer."
"Alas." Mary heaved a heavy sigh.
When Roslin came downstairs for breakfast, she did not see Linda. Although she found it strange, she did not dwell much on it. After she had breakfast, she learned that Linda had left long ago.
"Sam gave Miss Linda a ride to the school fifteen minutes ago. Er... Do you want me to get you downhill with my scooter?" Mary suggested.
"No, it's fine." Roslin waved her hand and turned Mary's kind offer down.
Linda always grabbed hold of any chances to give Roslin a hard time.
She thought she could embarrass Roslin this way and make Roslin a laughing stock.
