Rewriting My Heart's Fate novel Chapter 457

I stretched and yawned. "Well, it's almost dawn. We should head back. Otherwise, we'll sleep in tomorrow."

"Alright, I'll drive you. It's risky for a woman to be out driving this late," Ethan said.

"Keep your concern to yourself!" I said, but deep down, I was moved.

There was a time when we'd joke around like this, bickering and talking about everything.

"I can get home myself. You should get some rest." I started my car and waved at Ethan.

His features stood out clearly under the glow of his Ferrari's headlight. He was still as handsome as I remembered, though now it carried a little more weariness.

"Drive safe, and call me when you get home," Ethan shouted.

My heart melted a little, and I nodded. "Yeah, yeah. You're such a pain."

I slammed on the gas and sped off.

I once thought escaping would help me forget everything. But running into Ethan again made me realize that some feelings are too deep to get rid of.

I got home just as the sky started to brighten. I threw myself on the bed, worn out, but my mind wouldn't shut off.

I couldn't sleep, so I got up and brewed some coffee. I grabbed my steaming mug and walked out to the balcony, watching the sunrise, lost in my thoughts.

I thought I'd gotten strong enough over the years to take care of everything on my own. But seeing Ethan again made me realize I'd never moved on from him.

Just then, a phone call broke my train of thought. It was Kevin. "Hey, Evelyn, you home? You left in such a hurry last night, and Lianne and I were pretty worried."
