Ethan's words left my heart pounding.
I looked up into his eyes. His tone, just like it used to be, brought everything from our past rushing back—those sweet dates, the nights we spent talking, and… the heartbreak that tore it all apart.
H-How could he remember all of that? C-Could it be that he had carried those memories of our past lives like I had?
"Ethan, w-what are you talking about?" I played dumb. "Isn't this our first time here? How do you already know it so well?"
"Is that so? I must've been mistaken." Ethan grinned. "But I'm really glad we're sharing a meal. You've been working so hard by yourself all these years—it must've been tough."
He reached out and gently tapped the bridge of my nose. "You've lost some weight, and your dark circles are getting worse. Work might get overwhelming, but you've still got to take care of yourself."
I told myself it was probably just sleep deprivation from racing the night before. But the way he acted made my heart flutter. He'd said the same things and made the same moves before.
This wasn't just a coincidence. It was meant to happen.
Tears suddenly welled up in my eyes.
"I'm fine." I turned my face so he wouldn't see how vulnerable I was.
"You still need to treat yourself right, no matter how busy you are, right? Ms. Wiley, you're a big name now. Evelyn Studio is thriving and has a bright future ahead," Ethan said with a knowing smile.
He took a beat and then changed the topic. "By the way, I'm heading to Melando for a business trip tomorrow, and I'll swing by the fashion show there. Why don't you come with me?"
I was stunned. Was he… inviting me to travel with him?
