Salute to the General novel Chapter 1674

With a faint smile, Boris professed, “I admit defeat, and I have nothing more to say.

“However, I heard my colleagues saying earlier that they wanted you to arrest and punish all of my followers and subordinates.

“I have something to say about it, but I wonder if you are willing to listen to me.”

Hansel took a sip of his tea before he responded, Go on.

With a calm expression, Boris uttered, “I will accept punishment under national law for the crimes that I've committed.

“However, I don't agree with the decision of sacking all the officials who had a connection with me.

“I've served the country for decades. During this period, I've appointed a great number of officials. In the East Army, many of the soldiers were promoted to military officers during my term in office.

“These people are all competent and outstanding, and they are entrusted with the responsibility to protect our country.

“As you've said earlier, Eurasia needs the protection of the North Army. Likewise, the East Army is equally important to our country.

“The North Army is there to protect the borders, but we need the East Army to guard the coast as well.

“President Windsor, please do not drag them into this matter simply because they have connections with me. These people have contributed a lot to the country.

“Well, this is all I have to say.”

Hansel looked at Boris, who kept his head down after his speech.

After a long silence, Hansel announced his decision, “We will only arrest Boris Tucker for his misdeeds while his subordinates must not be affected. As for his accomplices, unless they have committed serious offenses, those who voluntarily report themselves to the Department of Justice will be given a chance to redeem themselves.”

“Yes, President Windsor. We will do as you've ordered,” Clifford and the others chirped in unison.

Hansel instructed, “Arrest Boris Tucker and take him into custody!”

“Yes, President Windsor!”
