Salute to the General novel Chapter 1771

At Brimmopolis, Clifford was reading the newspaper with his head lowered inside the study room within the Davier family residence.

Yanny, the butler respectfully stood in front of him. Apparently, he was reporting the news of his ex-wife to him.

He reported that Gillian had led the entire team of skillful fighters from the Goldstein family and went all out against Penny at the South.

Nonetheless, Clifford can't help but frown upon hearing that Penny's little-known bodyguard called Bay Cross had managed to make mincemeat out of her troops.

He took away his sight from the newspaper and looked at the butler, Yanny, “What did you say? All the skillful fighters of the Goldstein family were killed off by Penny's noteless bodyguard?”

Yanny smiled bitterly, “Sir, I was shocked as well. However, that is the truth.” He then continued, “That bodyguard, Bay Cross came out of nowhere but managed to defeat all the skilled fighters from the Goldstein family singlehandedly.”

Clifford was displeased and recalled, “I remember that Gillian has a younger brother named Alan Goldstein. Additionally, he was holding a high-rank position in the military district of the South.” He then remarked, “What is this fella doing? He just sits idly by while ignoring his sister's predicament in the South?”

Yanny smiled wryly, “Alan had ordered his men to capture the soldiers who assaulted Mr. Goldstein but...”

Clifford queried, “Then what happened?”

Yanny replied in a soft voice, “However, a letter from Nathan, General of the North summoning these soldiers was received by Alan shortly after they were captured. The letter stated that the North will be having a mission involving a mass of soldiers and thus, ought to recruit these soldiers to join in the operation. Nobody is allowed to stop these soldiers. Those who don't comply will be deemed as hindrances to the military operation and have to face the punishment meted out according to military law.”

Yanny then proceeded to explain, “Alan had no choice but to obligately release all eighteen soldiers of the North that were captured initially.”

Clifford scoffed, “Coward! Is that all Alan got?”

Yanny disclosed further, “When Bay killed off the entire skilled fighters of the Goldstein family, Alan bought an army of soldiers preparing to shoot down him in order to help his sister settle the score. However...”

Clifford interrupted, “Don't tell me Alan's mobilized troop was also no match for Bay?”
