Salute to the General novel Chapter 1857

The next day. Night fell, and streetlights illuminated the entire city.

At Cloud Palace.

It was Nathan's birthday and Thomas had everything ready beforehand. Dozens of tables had been set up at the restaurant to celebrate the man's birthday together with his friends and family.

As instructed by Nathan, Thomas didn't hold a grand party or invite any of the military leaders.

Hence, the guests were mostly Nathan's and Penny's friends and family.

Some business owners heard of the news and rushed over just to celebrate with him.

On the contrary, no politicians or military leaders showed up.

This was because Franklin Wilson, the commander-in-chief of the Channing military district, was in Brimmopolis for a meeting. Besides, the new mayor of Channing, Arthur Rivers, was Clifford's disciple.

The Davier family had a grudge against Nathan, so Arthur was against him as well. Since Arthur refused to attend Nathan's birthday banquet, his subordinates didn't come as well.

On top of that, many thought that they no longer needed to brown-nose Nathan, given he was not the General of the North anymore.

Although only his family and the business partners of the Cross Group were present, Nathan showed no hint of disappointment.

Meanwhile, Nathan was no different from his usual self. Walking alongside Penny, he smiled and greeted the guests with Thomas trailing behind him.

Soon, Sean turned up together with the Smiths.

Though Nathan was no longer the commander, the Cross Group was the largest pharmaceutical company in the nation, so he and Penny were still pivotal figures in the business arena.

With a grin on his face, Sean wished him, “Happy birthday, Nathan.”

“Thank you, Grandpa.” Nathan smiled warmly.

Penny quickly said, “Grandpa, please take a seat. It's been a long while since we last ate together.”

“Alright, alright.” Sean let out a hearty laugh.

In the meantime, the guests arrived at the restaurant one after another. Soon, almost all the seats were filled.

“Mr. Cross, shall we start now?” Thomas asked.

Nathan answered with a smile, “Yeah, since most of the guests are here. Ask the chef to start serving the food.”
