Nathan nodded in response. “You want me to spare your life? I'll agree on one condition, that is, if you're willing to donate ten billion to Eurasia for charity. I'll let you off the hook if you can dothat.”
Easton found himself unable to say anything.
“What? Ten billion?”
Nathan coldly responded, “The Camden Group ranks tenth among all the consortiums in the world. Your family is wealthier than the entire nation. Ten billion is nothing to you guys, isn't it?”
At that, Easton was on the brink of breaking down.
As much as the Camden family was indeed wealthy, it was not an easy feat for them to fork out a ten billion sum either.
In truth, Easton had several investments in the past years. Those had earned him roughly ten billion for his secret stash. Now that Nathan asked for such a hefty sum from him, it was equivalent to the latter trying to empty his painstakingly earned money.
He cried, “My dear brother-in-law, ten billion is a hefty sum. Can you lower it a little?”
Nathan uttered, “I'll reduce it by a billion since you called me your brother-in-law.”
Easton quickly replied, “Nine billion is still a lot of money. Do you think you can reduce it by half?”
Nathan harshly uttered, “Are you treating this as a public market and asking for bargains? Fine, I can reduce it by half, but the same goes for you. I'll chop off your legs. How's that?”
Easton nearly jumped out of his skin after hearing those words. “1-1 won't bargain anymore! I won't ask for you to reduce the sum by half too. I promise I'll fork out ten billion. I promise...”
Satisfied, Nathan nodded and instructed Colin, “You'll be in charge of this. Make sure the entire sum goes into charity.”
He then turned to the dejected-looking Easton and smiled. “Don't be heartbroken about losing that sum of money. I'm doing some good on your behalf to prevent you from facing more karmas in the future.”
Later that night, Nathan returned to his house
in Channing.
