At the headquarters of the Blackwell clan in Brimmopolis, Carlton, in a grey robe, sat in his armchair and sipped on his hot tea while he listened to his son and his subordinates' complaints.
Guilt was written all over the faces of Ezra, Randall, and the rest as they knelt before Carlton.
Many of the experts in the clan were infuriated to hear those grumbles and learn how Nathan had destroyed the clan's southern division.
Ezra knelt on the floor and cried, “Dad, Nathan is outrageous!”
With his head lowered, Randall got on his knees while looking guilt-ridden. “Master, I've
failed my duties even though you've put me in charge of the southern division. Now, Nathan has also completely destroyed it. I'm utterly ashamed. I will accept my punishment.”
The operation managers of the southern division, who were also on their knees beside Randall, quickly chimed in, “We have failed in our duties. Please, Master, punish us as well!”
At that point, everyone present cast their gazes at Carlton.
Putting down the teacup in his hand, Carlton looked at Ezra and Randall once more before he said in disdain, “What's the point of punishing all of you? Will that lessen the shame that you brought for me? Or will that resurrect our southern division?”
Everyone lowered their heads, not daring to
make a single noise.
Carlton calmly continued, “Mr. Camden has specially called me earlier. He hopes that we can help him get rid of Nathan. He has promised that he will strengthen the collaboration with our overseas branches and assign us some of their businesses. If that is so, we'll be able to earn a whopping ten billion without difficulty.”
The eyes of the disciples of the Blackwell clan lit up instantly.
Carlton's disciple, part of the Blackwell clan's new generation of leaders, Eton Lucien, immediately commented, “Master, the Blackwell clan has a thousand-year history, yet we have never been so humiliated in the near fifty years. Even if Mr. Camden didn't make such a request, we can't let Nathan off so
easily either.”
