When the others saw Annie concede first, they all knew Eagleland's royal family was involved in the attack by the werewolves.
Otherwise, there was no way Annie would’ve given in when she was condemning Nathan fervently a while ago.
Nathan leveled a cold gaze at Annie.
He knew Annie was insinuating for both sides to drop the issue. She was requesting Nathan to stop pursuing the truth behind the werewolves' attack in exchange for the royal family dropping the case about Nathan killing Szymon. It was a compromise from both sides.
Nathan stated calmly, “I'm not a petty person. Eurasia is known as the country of etiquette. Since you suggested setting aside our prejudice, I can agree to your request and drop the matter. However, you'll have to show your sincerity if you hope to have any future collaboration with Eurasia. I won't agree to your request if you're adamant about taking the Ariaricans' side and hurting Eurasia's interest. The same applies to my country.”
Nathan's words put Annie in a difficult
spot.
The royal family present at the venue all had differing expressions.
Nathan rose to his feet, fixed his collar, and bid Annie farewell.
“Thank you for your hospitality tonight and the past two days. It’s time for me to return home. I'm leaving Eagleland later, thereby putting an end to my visit. Hopefully, you'll be sincere in collaborating with us the next time we meet.”
Nathan and his wife, Penny, spun around and left. Following right on their heels were Colin, Ava, and the rest.
After Nathan and his group left, realization dawned on Annie. She never expected the meeting with Nathan would end on bad terms.
Moreover, did he imply if Eagleland doesn't negotiate with Eurasia sincerely, there won't be a future collaboration?
