At the summit of God's Palm, Leopold, Hepburn, and Myron each led five thousand elite warriors, rushing to the scene with great speed and urgency. Upon arriving at the scene, it was discovered that, although there were traces of battle, Nathan and his group were safe and sound. Besides that, the number of corpses lying on the ground wasn't too many. It was greatly exaggerated by Hepburn to say that Nathan had encountered tens of thousands of enemies.
Leopold and Myron were relieved to see that Nathan was not dead, but at the same time, they looked at Hepburn with a sense of confusion. Hepburn had the same doubt as well. She looked puzzled and said, “Mr. Cross, it's great that you're all okay, but what about the enemies? I remember there were thousands, if not tens of thousands, of them heading this way, weren't there?”
“We have taken down the enemy's leader, and the other bandits have all dispersed,” Nathan said with a smile.
Hepburn widened her eyes, somewhat in disbelief.
Mr. Cross actually defeated the enemy leader and repelled tens of thousands of enemies. That's just too incredible!
At that moment, Colin smugly recounted the whole story to everyone. Although Hepburn and the others were not at the scene, they could still feel their blood boiling with excitement. Their eyes were filled with fervor when they looked at Nathan. Nathan chuckled.
“It was just an ordinary skirmish. The enemy was somewhat weak. Once we defeated their leader, the rest of them scattered. By the way, are you guys the first ones to arrive?” Upon hearing Nathan's question, Leopold immediately put on a serious face and reported in a low voice, “When we saw the flare from the mountain peak, we knew something had happened. Later on, Hepburn also came back to confirm this. I, along with Ms. Hepburn and General Myron, hurriedly led our respective troops to provide reinforcements.
Well, Wolfric sure is something else. He knew full well that you were facing an enemy situation and that it was critical. But whether it was intentional or not, he took his sweet time gathering the War Gods from various countries. I bet they haven't even set off yet.”
Hearing that, Myron added resentfully, “I think Wolfric is harboring ill intentions. He led the Western Front Forces and lost to Gregg, then shamelessly came to the Eastern Front Forces. He must be too proud to admit it, so he's deliberately delaying the rescue this time, trying to put you, Mr. Cross, in a dangerous situation. He can't wait for something bad to happen to you.”
Nathan uttered in a low voice, “Stop it. Don't talk nonsense like this in the future.” Myron lowered his head and replied, “Understood!” Then, Leopold said, “Mr. Cross, actually, General Myron's suspicion is not unreasonable. While we are fighting against the vampire, we also need to be cautious of Wolfric. Otherwise, we will be the ones at a disadvantage in the end.” Nathan responded, “General Remington, be cautious with your words. Now that we are facing a formidable enemy, we must unite and work together, not fight amongst ourselves.” Leopold sighed inwardly.
Nathan, you may want to prioritize the bigger picture, but Wolfric might not necessarily think the same way.
As expected, it was just as Leopold and Myron had guessed. In the absence of Nathan and Leopold, Wolfric held the greatest power in the alliance.
After he gathered the War Gods from various countries, he was slow to send reinforcements.
The only War God he sent over was Jetroina's God of War, Eiken. After Eiken arrived, he said to Nathan, “Commander Cross, Admiral Welz said that without you and General Remington, the alliance would be rudderless. Hence, he must remain in the army to command the troops so as to avoid any mishaps. He also said that if the vampire army begins to attack God's Palm, he will lead the main force of the alliance to provide support, so you can rest assured.” When Nathan heard that, he gave a half-smile.
“Haha. Go back and inform Wolfric that I got the message. Additionally, inform him that if he sees seven flares fired in succession, it means the vampire army has begun their assault on the mountain. He must immediately send all available forces to provide support.”
Eiken kept his head down, but his eyes were darting around as he responded, “Understood!”
After saying that, he quickly left with his personal guards. He showed up swiftly, and he departed just as quickly.
