In a trembling voice, Sean cried out, "Please, my lord, tell us what we can do!”
A sly smirk curled Lenard's lips. "Of course. Seeing as we're both Smith's, descending from the same ancestor, I came here to help you."
Before Sean and the others could express their gratitude and joy, Lenard continued, "However, even though I'm acquainted with General Bachok, I'm not doing this for free."
Sean laughed bitterly and answered, "As long as my lord is willing to plead for mercy on our behalf, we will definitely repay you, sir."
"One billion!"
Sean's eyes bulged out in shock as he exclaimed, "What?”
Bringing the cup of tea to his lips, Lenard took a sip before replying, "I can talk to General Bachok, but that would cost you one billion."
Here, he paused and sneered at Sean. "Unless you think all your lives aren't worth one billion?"
Although the Channing Smith's had a substantial amount of wealth, one billion was not an insignificant number. They might never be able to recover from the loss of such an amount of money.
Then again, it was not like Sean had any other option. After all, lives were far more important than money.
With a grimace twisting his face, he agreed, "Alright, we'll pay you one billion. But in return, may you please ask for mercy on our behalf from General Bachok? Tell him that he should be focusing his anger on Nathan, not our family."
A wide grin split Lenard's lips and he chuckled happily, "Don't worry. I'll be sure to ask him to spare your family. Unfortunately, I can tell you now that he will definitely not let Nathan go."
The Smith's had all hated Nathan with a passion, which was why Sean responded spitefully, "Not only is that piece of trash useless, rather, he's always causing trouble for us. Now, he's even managed to injure General Bachok's brother, leading misfortune right to our doorstep. He deserves to die!"
