Chapter 255
Lizetta stiffly bowed her head and glanced at Evelina, letting out a snicker.
She was laughing at her own stupidity, for actually being scared that Fiona would really go through with terminating Evelina’s pregnancy. She found it hilarious that Evelina wasn’t spilling the beans even now, and she was getting a kick out of watching her squirm.
Little did she know, the biggest joke was probably on her.

Every time Evelina gets a scratch and sheds a couple of tears, Remington is always there to shield her.
“Remi, save me, save our baby. I’m not fighting with Liz over anything, why do you have to harm my baby, what has he done wrong, it hurts so much.”
Evelina, not caring about the wound on her face, clutched her belly, attempting to stand up but collapsed back, curling into a ball.
Remington’s expression changed ever so slightly as he stepped forward and scooped Evelina into his arms, not giving a hoot about the awkward spot he was putting Lizetta in.
Fiona was fuming, her chest heaving as she slammed her walking stick on the ground twice, scolding furiously.
“Put her down! You no–good scoundrel, believe me, I’ll give you a thrashing too!”
Fiona was livid, raising her cane to strike.
“Ah! Remington, watch out!”
Evelina cried out, raising her hand to shield Remington’s head, but he turned just in time, taking the hit on his back.
The two of them looked for all the world like a pair of star–crossed lovers, each feeling the other’s pain.
Fiona’s blood pressure was through the roof, gritting her teeth, ready to give them a piece of her mind.
Remington turned around, took a step forward, “Grandma, if you want to take me to task, let me get her to the infirmary first, then you can let off steam however you like.”
Fiona didn’t expect him to turn and close in suddenly, her cane nearly whacking Remington on the head.
She loved her grandson after all and didn’t want to kill him, so she stopped mid–swing, shouting angrily.
“You still want to take her to the infirmary? I think you’re trying to send me to the infirmary!”
Lizetta, seeing Fiona genuinely enraged and worried for her, was about to step in and mediate when Remington’s gaze landed on her.
Remington furrowed his brows and spoke sternly, “Did you bring Grandma here? She’s getting on in years, shouldn’t be overexerting herself, help her back first.”
His face was stern, his tone not harsh, but clearly reproachful.
Lizetta locked eyes with him, her breath catching in her throat.
Remington actually thought she had tattled to Fiona, and that’s why she had come to the hospital to deal with Evelina.
In his eyes, she was just a cold–hearted, narrow–minded executioner, hell–bent on killing Evelina’s innocent child.
Lizetta didn’t want to explain, nor did she find it worth explaining.
Whatever Remington thought, she couldn’t care less.
