Chapter 305
Lizetta still remembered the sheer panic that gripped her when she saw that Facebook post.
She was in the university cafeteria at the time, just picked up her tray of food.
Her hand trembled, and the stainless steel tray crashed to the floor, creating a mess, and she even got a nasty burn on her leg. Everyone was staring at her
But she couldn’t care less about those strange looks or the pain. She just squatted there, clutching her phone and crying so hard she couldn’t catch her breath
Until his birthday, she refused to believe it, didn’t want to believe it.
She tried calling him but could never get through.
Clutching onto a sliver of hope, she still bought a plane ticket on the sly, with the gift she had prepared early, and flew abroad.
Only to see Evelina running towards Remington with a bouquet of roses, and Remington smiling as he accepted those roses, before they walked away together.
Later, the news that Evelina was fervently pursuing Remington and that they were together indeed traveled back to Zion City from abroad.
But now, Remington was flatly denying it.
“When I was abroad, I barely had enough time to sleep, let alone date.”
Remington chuckled disdainfully and added, “An ex–girlfriend? That’s a species I won’t be having in this lifetime. Though, I almost ended up with an ex–wife.”
Lizetta was in no mood for jokes, she grabbed the front of Remington’s shirt in frustration.
“Liar, on your twenty–second birthday, you clearly accepted Evelina’s roses. She even held your hand and went to have a candlelit dinner with you!”
She saw it with her own eyes. How could it be wrong?
Remington furrowed his brows, not recalling the event Lizetta mentioned but ended up laughing in exasperation.
“Hey, Lizetta, I’m not that desperate!”
“What do you mean?”
“When I was twenty–two, Evelina was only sixteen. Even if I wanted to date, I wouldn’t be a pervert going after a minor!”
Remington was visibly angry, flicking Lizetta’s forehead in frustration.
Lizetta, covering her forehead, had an indescribable expression on her face.
It looked like she wanted to laugh, but also cry, feeling both indignant and wronged.
“But you did accept her roses, and let her hold your hand into the restaurant for a candlelit dinner on such an important day like your birthday.”
Remington frowned, thinking hard, and then vaguely remebered the incident. He explained, somewhat helplessly.
“That day, it was supposed to be Kevin and Elara meeting up to discuss something. The roses were actually bought by Evelina for her mom. She cut her hand, and I was just helping her carry them. The flight was delayed, and I had other matters, so we didn’t even finish. the meal. As for her holding my hand, I can’t remember now.”
After saying this, he squinted slightly.
“How did you know all this? It’s as if you saw it with your own eyes.”
Lizetta didn’t know what to say.
