Chapter 359
The tension was palpable when Hamilton, wide eyed, looked towards Lizetta as she took a step forward
She emerged from behind Jerome.
Hamilton, anxious, reached out to grab Lizetta
Jerome blocked his hand, causing Hamilton to frown.
Lizetta, head bowed, walked up to Remington, her fists clenched yet seemingly devoid of strength,
The dance production was set to debut next month, and since Crystal and the dance crew were already here, deciding on Zion City as the venue must have been a carefully weighed decision.
With so much sweat and effort poured into the production by the performers, the thought of causing its downfall before even joining the troupe was unbeamble for Lizetta. How could she face them or work alongside the other dancers?
The moment Remington made his move, his grip tightened around Lizetta’s throat, forcing her to look down.
“Let’s go home and discuss this later,” he proposed, his gaze softening as the defiant woman returned to his side. His voice gentler, he reached out to stroke Lizetta’s hair.
Lizetta slightly turned her head, causing Remington’s hand to stiffen before it firmly grasped her waist, pulling her close. She couldn’t break free.
Remington then lifted his cool, deep eyes to Jerome and said, “We’ll take our leave.”
With Lizetta in his arms, he turned to leave. Hamilton, worried and anxious, took a step forward.
“Jerome, are we just going to let him take her? It’s clear she doesn’t want to go!”
Jerome glanced at him. “What’s your plan, then? Go up there, pick a fight with Remington, and take her back?”
Hamilton’s eyes lit up, ready to spring into action, but Jerome’s words halted him.
“Remington’s been a mercenary abroad, seen his share of blood and death. Oh, and the last guy who crossed him, that Daniel guy, ended up all over the news.”
The horrific tale of Daniel, who was mutilated in a hospital, had caught the attention of many. Hamilton had seen it too.
Instantly, Hamilton’s advancing step retreated. He looked at Jerome.
“So, we’re just going to leave it at that?”
“She’s Mrs. Dashiell, carrying Remington’s child.”
Any man, not just Remington, would find his wife wanting to perform on stage while pregnant a significant strain on their relationship. Unless he didn’t care about the safety of his wife and child, worry and tension would be natural.
Jerome’s previous standoff was because Lizetta had made her stance clear, giving him a reason to intervene. But now, with Lizetta’s surrender, they, as outsiders, had no say in the matter.
This was something for the couple to discuss and resolve
“Mr. Madden, should we consider someone else for the dance role?” Crystal asked, a hint of regret in her voice.
