Chapter 367
Lizetta was enveloped by the familiar scent, turning the once sweet flutter in her heart into a bitter mix of anger and humiliation.
Why should she be the one to hide? She was upfront and honest; it was he who skulked in the shadows.
Her avoidance wasn’t out of fear or cowardice. It was because she was a mess, her face streaked with tears.
She didn’t want to face him and Stella’s family in such a state, to be the butt of their jokes. She wanted to maintain what little dignity she had left.
But how could he continue to humiliate her as if nothing had happened? Lizetta’s eyes reddened as she raised her hand, not hesitating to strike Remington across the face.
However, the man was quick, grabbing her wrist and forcibly separating her fingers to intertwine his own with hers. Then, he lifted her arms and pinned them against the wall in a dominating gesture.
His kiss became punishingly deep and heated, even more so due to her fierce resistance, causing an undeniable reaction in him!
Bastard! Lizetta bit down hard, the taste of blood instantly filling her mouth.
“Ugh.”
Remington grunted, pulling away, his handsome face turning icy as he gripped Lizetta’s chin. He licked the blood off the corner of his lips, the sting bringing a shadow to his eyes, his voice cold and mocking.
“Liz, such a sharp tongue. Trying to bite me to death?”
Lizetta gasped for breath, her gaze furious as if she were a cornered cat, “Don’t call me Liz!”
She used to love it when he called her that, making her feel like she belonged when she first arrived at the Dashiell family mansion, feeling lost.
Actually, it was a nickname only Remington used, making her feel cherished every time he uttered it. Yet now, it felt like a thorn in her heart.
“What’s wrong? You used to love it,” Remington frowned, his thumb gently brushing the corner of Lizetta’s reddened eyes.
Coldness seeped into Lizetta’s gaze as she stared at him, her voice deliberate, “Are you speaking to Liz, who’s always been there, or Star, whom you’ve sought for so long?”
Remington stiffened, the gentleness on Lizetta’s cheek turning into a forceful grip. The tender skin around her eyes stung with pain.
They were close, too close, and his body’s immediate reaction didn’t lie to her. Lizetta’s heart sank.
Despite the fact that she had mentally prepared, facing this moment felt like a boulder crushing her chest, leaving her breathless.
“What nonsense are you talking about? Stop with these wild thoughts!” Remington finally spoke, his voice a mix of rebuke that, to Lizetta, sounded like guilty deflection.
Her eyes, icy and sharp, mocked him with a curl of her lips, “Isn’t Stella’s nickname Star?”
