Sold To A Billionaire novel Chapter 72

DAYS passed, and the wound in Zoe’s heart was still fresh. She couldn’t help but think about what Helios did to her. And as the days go by, her pregnancy hormones are growing. She felt irritated quickly. Especially to Gun, Grant’s twin brother.
Yesterday, she decided to find a job, but Grant got angry.
“Don’t go out when you’re alone, Zoe,” Grant uttered while they were having their dinner.
Zoe nodded.
“Let the maid get what you want outside,” Grant added.
Gunner has a maid, and she’s already in her mid-60s. Seeing the old lady, she suddenly misses Nana Milky.
“Marie will help you with everything you need—”
“Stop treating her like a baby, Grant,” Gun uttered, feeling irritated.
Grant frowned and pierced his gaze on his brother. “Are you tired of living?”
Gun scoffed. “Wrong question, bro,” he said.
Zoe shook her head as she continued eating her food. The two are not yet done with their business when she’s done.
“Can’t you two eat quietly? Continue your argument later. You’re in front of the food, for goodness’ sake.”
Gun looked at her. “So? If you’re done, go upstairs and take a rest,” he said.
Zoe gritted her teeth and rolled her eyes. She stood up and looked at Grant. “Let’s talk later,” she said and left.
Gun frowned. “Talk about what?” he asked Grant.
“It’s none of your business,” Grant replied.
Gun has the urge to hit his brother, but he holds himself and finishes the food on his plate.
An hour later, Grant knocked into Zoe’s room.
Zoe opened the door and let him in.
“How’s your day? Tomorrow is your first check-up with the OB, right?” Grant asked as he sat on the single couch.
Zoe nodded. “Yeah. Marie will accompany me.”
“I’ll drive. Gunner will do some business overseas.”
“I am not asking for him,” Zoe asserted as she sat on the opposite side.
Grant let out a soft chuckle. “You really hate my brother, huh?”
“Who wouldn’t? He’s arrogant and a bully. I am getting stressed because of his attitude. Good thing I can hold it enough. If not, I may be jived into miscarriage,” she said.
Grant shook his head. “Don’t worry. Gun is just like that, but he cares. Anyway, what are we going to talk about?” he asked.
Zoe took a deep breath and heaved a deep sigh. “How will I talk about everything to my mom?”
“Shit!” Grant cursed out, making Zoe frown. “I forgot to buy you a phone.”
Zoe smiled. “You can buy it tomorrow. Add it to the list of my debts,” she said.
“It’s no big deal. I got you covered.” ‘Helios got you covered,’ he wanted to add.
“No…” Zoe shook her head, “… I will pay you,” she added.
Grant sighed. “All right. All right. If it will make you at ease.”
“But no interest, okay?” Zoe asserted and let out a soft chuckle.
“Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, what brand of phone do you want?”
“Brand?”
Grant nodded.
Zoe smiled. “Anything will do.”
“All right. Back to how you will tell this about your mother, just tell the truth.”
“But what if mom will approach Helios?”
“Then tell her not to do a reckless thing. Uncle Michael despises you. Especially your mother because she broke the agreement. Your mother has debts to my uncle, but a good thing, Helios got it covered to save the both of you.”
Zoe sighed as she remembered what had happened—how she met Helios.
“Do you know that I met Helios two years ago?”
Grant arched his brow. “W-Where?” Actually, he knows the truth. Helios told him. It was Icarus whom Zoe met two years ago. But Icarus was already dead. He hemmed to clear his throat. “You mean…”
“Yes, but I don’t feel like he was Helios.” She shrugged her shoulders. “Maybe because I was drunk at that time.”
Grant nodded. “Zoe… I know you banned us from uttering his name, but Helios never faked his love for you.” He was taking chances.
Zoe clenched her jaw. “I know. But the fact that she let me and his child stay away means to say he loses the game.”
“No. It’s not that. One of you needs to sacrifice—”
“Sacrifice?” Zoe laughed sarcastically. “Why would—”
“Do you trust him, Zoe?”
“How am I supposed to trust him when he’s already married, Grant? How…?” her voice was faint.
Grant sighed. “Trust me. Helios is doing his best to be with you and his child.”
Zoe scoffed then suddenly; she felt a cold drop from her cheek. She raised her hand and touched her cheek. Tears are flowing… again.
“Don’t you know how it hurts, Grant? Do you know how painful it was… knowing that the one you love marries someone? You know what… I regretted that I let it off. If only I agreed to his proposal, then I should be the one… who is there for him…” she sobbed but wiped her tears away from her cheeks. “It’s hurting me… day by day. He’s already married, Grant… he’s married.”
Grant could feel Zoe’s pain. They are visible in her eyes. He approached her and sat beside her. He was hesitant to hug her, but he couldn’t stand seeing Zoe burst into tears and break down. She’s pregnant.
‘I’m sorry, bro,’ Grant thought, and then he hugged Zoe.
Grant consoled her. “You got this, Zoe. You’re strong for your baby. Believe me… you have to trust Helios,” he said.
Zoe shook her head and let Grant hug her.
“I… I don’t know, Grant. He’s already married.”
Grant didn’t talk again and let Zoe let go of her burden on Helios.
‘Damn that man,’ he cursed inside his head.
Minutes had passed, and Zoe slept in Grant’s arms. Grant then carried her and lay her down on her bed. He pulled the blanket up to Zoe’s chest, and after that, he left the room.
Grant went back to his room and pulled his phone out of his pocket. He dialed a number and made a call.
In just three rings, the man picked up the call.
“How is she?”
“Fuck man… she’s crying and even slept because of it,” Grant uttered as he walked toward the balcony of his room. He held into the railing and looked down.
The Philippines' weather is far different from Manhattan, but it’s quite refreshing. The city is still full of lights at night and a slightly cold breeze in the morning.
“What happened with your new plan, Helios? Better make progress, or else... I swear, I will not let you see Zoe.”
Helios sighed. “Dad will transfer it next week. Wait a little more. And I will be there once he passed it on to me,” he said.
Grant frowned. “Be sure that the traitor is not around you right now, Helios,” he warned.
Helios let out a soft chuckle. “Ambrose is aware now.”
“Damn that, Cliff. I will fucking kill that man if I get the chance,” Grant chimed in.
“Yeah. Me too, but Ambrose will deal with him. Anyway, don’t let Gunner lay his hand on Zoe.”
It’s Grant’s turn to laugh. “Now, you’re being possessive. Gunner will leave the country tomorrow.”
“Good.”
“So, you’re Chloe’s husband now?” Grant teased.
“No. Never.”
Grant nodded and smiled. “So, you faked everything?”
“Of course. Plan B, remember?”
“Great. Now, don’t take things too slowly, Helios. They’re waiting for you.”
Helios took a deep breath and sighed. “No matter what happens, please look after them until I get back to their arms,” he uttered, making Grant frown.
“Don’t tell me there will be a delay… again?”
“Dad is setting his eyes on me and even supervises my every move—”
“Fuck, dude. Don’t make excuses. I know you’re smarter than your father. And don’t worry about Zoe’s mom and friends. Calyx is there for them.”
“We can’t be at ease. I need to make things clean and smooth,” Helios asserted.
Grant sighed. “I don’t know, man. Now that you finally found love, obstacles then came.”
“It is a test, Grant.”
Grant burst into laughter. “Test? How long? I’m getting bored—”
“Then why don’t you invite your informant?”
Grant frowned. “Fuck, dude. She’s not my type—” he didn’t finish his words when Helios interrupted him.
“Come on, dude. We’ve known each other for so long. Anyway, I need to hang up. Chloe is already waiting—”
“Playing to be a good husband, are we?”
“Shut up!”
“Watch out if Chloe will force you into s-x. Zoe will get mad— Hello?!” Grant frowned when he looked at his phone.
Helios dropped the call.
“That jerk,” Grant whispered.
