THINGS HAPPEN unexpectedly, and there’s no doubt about that. But all we could do to blend in is to accept the fact that we can’t bring back what was already happened. All we have to do is move on because that’s how life goes. The world is round, so in your life, we may sometimes in the top, and we may sometimes be below. We may experience all-day happiness, and we may share all-day sorrows. We must always look on the bright side. That’s all we can do to help ourselves to move on. Accept. Move on. Life circulates. Then it will produce peace and harmony.
Life is more challenging when we struggle. And Zoe realized all things within when Helios told her to trust him.
Since the day that day, the guy has always come along. He always visits them after his work. Zoe felt pity for the man because he would have to drop by just to see her daughter. She knew that the man was busy all day and he seemed tired, but he was just hiding it behind his smile.
Yes, Helios smiles a lot in front of her daughter. And she knew Helios’s other reason why he was always there—their safety matters the most to him.
The other day she just let the man sleep in the living room. Well, they may be in a truce, but she will not let him sleep beside her not until all mess has been fix-up. And Helios respected her decision.
Zoe keeps an eye on her cousin because she seems to be behaving strangely.
Amanda seldom talks, not like the way she used to be when they were younger.
Zoe wondered why Amanda behaved that way all of a sudden when she knew—well, they’d been together for a long time, and the Amanda she knew was talkative and a demonic bitch.
Zoe can’t deny the fact that they have a similarity. She treats every person with a different attitude. If that person gives plasticity, why can’t she? —that’s Zoe. She shows her bitchy self-depending on what you will show her. She’s a bitch if you’re bitching at her, but she was not talkative. She’s not also flirtatious—sort of, she just flirted when she met Helios. Besides, she had known him for a long time. Who wouldn’t know the surname ‘Lincoln’ in the business industry?
His name resonated even when they were even before.
“You know what, you can come here every weekend. It’s not that you’re forcing yourself to come here after work. Look at you. You really look like a mess,” said Zoe.
Helios grinned. “You mean a handsome mess?”
She rolled her eyes balls. “Have you eaten?”
He shook his head, and that made Zoe pity him more. “See, you haven’t eaten yet. Are you trying to ruin your body? If you’re worried about us, I can say that we’re just fine. Your men watch over us, twenty-four-seven. And we don’t even go out from the mansion.”
Even if she still has unfixed issues with the man, she doesn’t want him to abuse himself. What about his promise, then? What will happen to it if he will not watch his health? Sometimes you still need to love yourself as much as you love others. Because once your body gives up, you can no longer stay longer with your loved ones, and you can no longer do whatever you want to do.
“Be thankful that we haven’t started dinner yet. Eat with us, then.”
“Yes, Ma’am,” answered Helios.
Zoe just shook her head and smiled. She’s happy despite all the mess… the problems they’ve been through. She’s happy because they have no problem with Helios being the father of her daughter. Though there are still secrets to unfold, still she’s holding to Helios’s promise.
“Beige. Don’t put toys inside your mouth.” Zoe called the attention of the boy who was playing with the toy car her mom bought yesterday. Her mom also accepted Amanda’s son. Just like her, the child has nothing to do with what Amanda did to the family. Beige is also a blessing to their family. So, they should forgive her.
Her mommy is right. God forgives us no matter how tough our mistakes are. Why can’t we?
Zoe can forgive her, but she can’t promise that she’ll be good to her. Because every time she sees her, the sight of Amanda irritates her eyes.
God knows how she tries to talk to her—to give her attention. To be civil to her. It’s just that when she’s trying to talk to her, Amanda goes away. And that’s why she’s wondering for. Why?
It is good that her nephew is obedient and kind that even though his mother locked herself inside their room, Beige was not ask questions about her mother’s strange behavior.
She heaved a deep sigh, and the sight of it never escaped Helios’s eyes.
“Is there a problem?” he asked. Helios put down Hela Selene beside Beige and approached her.
“Amanda is acting strange.”
“How?”
“Amanda will only go out of her room when mom calls her. And after it, she will lock herself inside again. I feel sorry for her son because she’s not giving the child's full attention. When I try to talk to her, she’s making an alibi that mom or aunt Millie was calling for her. She’s avoiding me. Aunt Millie told me that we will just let her adjust.” She laughed sarcastically. “Adjust for what? Are you not wondering too? After a long time that we didn’t see her, she will suddenly show up here and worst. She’s telling you that you’re Beige’s father? Isn’t that…” she didn’t finish her words.
Helios frowned. “What is it?”
She shook her head. “Nothing.” She stood up. “Stay here. I’m just going to help in the kitchen, and I will call you once the food is already prepared. Watch over the kids, okay?” she said and quickly turned around and walked toward the kitchen.
Helios heaved a deep sigh as he closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose.
