Nigel was dressed very proper, and his face was serious. He looked like he had been working as there was a measuring tool in front of him. He had been earnestly looking at the numbers coming out of the tool, so he did not seem to have noticed Sabrina when she collided onto him.
He looked at Sabrina coldly, his tone calm. "It's you? Don't you see that I’m working? How could you jump into my arms like that? You really are immature!
Private matters should be kept private, and work is work. Next time, especially when I'm working, don't pull these little tricks.”
His tone did not seem like he was joking, nor did it seem like he was intentionally putting Sabrina down. He had just been engrossed in his work, that when she bumped into him, he got distracted.
Sabrina pursed her lips. "I'm sorry!”
Saying that, she lowered her head and walked past Nigel and toward the construction site. She had wanted to tell Nigel that she would get her salary in two days and once she got it, she would be able to return the three thousand bucks to Nigel.
However, when Sabrina saw that Nigel was engrossed in his work and was being impatient, she said nothing. She walked towards the site instead.
It was only when Sabrina had walked a distance, did Nigel relax slightly. Looking at Zayn who was in the car, he yelled, "Zayn, come over!” 1
Zayn got out of the car. "Nigel, your acting earlier was really like an engineer. Since when did you learn how t o act like that? It was too real!”
Nigel rubbed the stubble on his chin. He told Nigel proudly, "Did you see that? She was acting just like the first time I met her. Depressed, aloof, cold, calm and looking pitiful and helpless. I like her when she's like this!” 1
Zayn was speechless. He looked at Nigel and asked, " Nigel, what are you trying to do? I still don't understand you. She's your cousin-in-law, are you really trying to chase her? Are you not afraid that your cousin will cut you up?"
Nigel looked at Zayn in exasperation. "My aunt doesn't even have half a month left, and she will be unconscious more than she will be awake. My cousin no longer needs that country girl to console my aunt. It's been two days, and that country girl hasn't been able to enter my aunt’s ward. Do you think my cousin will still care about her? She is just a tool to my cousin. Yet, she got so arrogant that she started to think she was more than just a tool, and even provoked my cousin's beloved." 1
Zayn did not know what to say.
Nigel’s lips curled up. "Now I’ll take advantage of the situation. Look at her right now, a little girl who’s being provoked everywhere, how fun."
"Then why were you so cold to her when she fell right into your arms just now?" Zayn asked, puzzled. 1
"Catching an eagle, have you ever heard of that?” Nigel asked.
"What does she have to do with eagles?" Zayn asked.
"She has plenty to do with one!" Nigel wanted to win over Sabrina, and called her an eagle. It meant that, in his eyes, Sabrina was not a human, but just a little toy.
Zayn smiled meaningfully. "Nigel, you really like to play around."
