Hearing Jane's voice made Sabrina happier than seeing the set of furniture that cost eighteen million. She shed joyful tears as she exclaimed, "Jane, where-"
She was just about to blurt out asking where Jane was, when she remembered what Alex had just said. Alex truly knew Jane extremely well. Though Jane was already well in her thirties, she remained naive. She was incapable of surviving on her own out there and Alex was right when he said Jane would call to borrow money.
Therefore, she proceeded to ask, "Jane, how much do you need? Maybe I could lend you some?"
While Sabrina was conversing with Jane, Alex had already contacted his subordinate to begin tracking the number Jane was calling Sabrina with.
On the other hand, Jane, Noah and Noah's mother were still on their way back to their hometown in the northeast direction, and their path had been filled with obstacles. First, Noah's mother came down with a fever. They had been on the cheapest public bus but because of her sudden fever, they had to get off halfway through their journey and head over to a local town for medical assistance. Once her condition began to look up, Noah's mother refused to continue with the IV treatment, as they had limited cash to spare. The fact that they were three adults meant that
even if they wanted to beg on the street, no one would show them any mercy.
With no choice, Noah carried his mother on his back and the three walked along the high-way, hoping that they could hitch a ride. Lucky for them, they somehow managed to hitch a ride for roughly three hundred kilometers but as soon as they got off the car, Jane started puking her guts out. At first, they thought she might be car-sick but after three days of going back and forth between moving and resting, her condition remained as bad.
Jane thought that she might be suffering from food poisoning from not having her meals on time, and Noah insisted on taking her to the hospital for a check -up before they continued their journey.
Jane didn't agree because they had no money, but Noah comforted her by saying, "It's okay, I can work a few jobs in town. I can help carry cement for those renovation sites, I've done it before, so I have the strength for it. You need to get some medical help no matter what."
Jane couldn't argue with Noah and ended up going to one of the local town hospitals for a check-up. They spent hundreds of dollars on different tests but couldn't seem to find out what went wrong with her. I n the end, a senior doctor suggested to Jane, "Are you... pregnant?"
Shook, Jane took a few seconds to react and blushed. Why didn't she think of that? This was her fault! Two
months ago, she had just went for an abortion, so she didn't thought that it would be possible for her to get pregnant again that soon, i
The senior doctor suggested that she buy a pregnancy test and she did with a dollar. When the results came out, she saw nothing but black before her eyes. She really was pregnant! Overwhelmed by different emotions, she looked at Noah apologetically and said,' Noah, I...I can't go back to your hometown with you anymore. I'm so ashamed."
"What's wrong?" he asked. 1
"I..." She struggled in embarrassment. "I...I am pregnant."
Noah was indeed taken by surprise upon hearing the news.
