Yvonne practically pounced on Sabrina with excitement as soon as she saw her. "Sabrina, where have you been this entire week? Why didn't you tell m e anything? I had thought we could go grab a bite a few days ago, only to find out that you were on a business trip. Hey, which city did you go to? Do I get any souvenirs?" she asked playfully.
Yvonne's innocent and sincere smile had always been a soft spot in Sabrina's heart. She looked apologetically at Yvonne and explained, "I'm so sorry, I sort of forgot..."
"Oh, come on, that's totally okay, Sabrina. I was just joking around. I know it's only been a few days since you joined us and you probably haven't gotten your salary yet. You wouldn't have the extra money to get m e anything," said Yvonne with a cheerful smile on her face.
"Sabrina might not have the money, but I do!" Out of nowhere, Ryan decided to join the conversation and said, "So she forgot to buy you something from her business trip, right? How about this, I'll get you something in her place. I'll treat the two of you to dinner tonight. How does that sound?"
"Sure!" Yvonne agreed without hesitation. After all, an invitation from Master Ryan was something that every single woman in the company would kill for.
She wouldn't even dare to dream of being invited to dinner by Master Ryan and knew better than to waste her time on unrealistic fantasy. Naturally, Yvonne could tell that the person that Master Ryan truly wanted to invite was Sabrina all along, so she turned t o look at Sabrina, doe-eyed in excitement.
"I'm sorry, but I don't have time for that." Sabrina rejected the offer mercilessly.
Everyone present, Yvonne, Ryan and the fellow colleagues of the design department around them included, was rendered speechless as to how firmly Sabrina had turned down the invitation.
"Director, can we go up for my payment now? I want to leave as soon as I receive my share," urged Sabrina.
"Oh, okay..." The Design Director responded reluctantly. In truth, she was hoping that she could find a chance to keep Sabrina around. She was incredibly gifted with extensive experience in the field, it would be most ideal to have such a talented staff stay.
Ryan reacted instantly. "What payment? Why are you leaving, Sabrina? Didn't you say you are going to work here? Is it because of me? If you don't want to see, you can just say so and I promise I will stay out of your sight, but why would you just throw away an opportunity like this?"
As soon as the words were spoken, every woman was shocked and envious of the extent Master Ryan would go to please Sabrina.
"Well, it's not like I quit. I was fired," Sabrina said casually.
"Who was it? Whoever dared to fire you, I'm going to send that person packing!" Ryan said. Before Sabrina could respond, he continued decisively, "Head up first, I'll follow shortly after I park my car and see to it that this is handled." And with that, he hopped onto his car and drove off to the parking lot.
"Why don't you stay, Sabrina?" The Design Director couldn't be happier of how things turned out. 1
"Let's head up first, and see how it goes," she said to the Director, and stepped into the elevator with Yvonne. Sabrina was not a dramatic person to begin with, so she didn't mind staying if they could find a reasonable solution to this. Finding a job wasn't easy, after all, and there was no guarantee that her situation would not change in time.
"Sabrina, Master Ryan is so handsome, why aren't you even slightly interested?" Yvonne grabbed Sabrina and exclaimed frantically.
"How attractive can a man be when they are being so persistent? I think shameless is the word you are looking for," Sabrina deadpanned.
Dumbfounded, Yvonne thought to herself, 'Oh, Sabbie, you are going to get into so much trouble with the women in the office if you say that out loud."
