Silence fell upon the office as everyone tried to process what Sabrina had just said.
It was only a few moments after that Linda finally snapped out of her dazed state. "What...what are you saying?"
Sabrina was never skilled in communication and opted to explain in a matter-of-fact tone. "I am staying here to work so you are changing stations with me. I a m taking over your position and you are going to be m y assistant. All blueprints you produce from this point onwards will have to go through me before being put into practice."
Linda seemed dazed for a split second, before she snapped. "Sabrina Scott! Do you think that you are suddenly the better person for handling the incident for me? Please, be that as it may, you have also scammed your way into taking ten thousand dollars from me! What else do you want? You want to be on top? No freaking way! Everyone, you heard it, not only did this woman force me into paying her ten thousand dollars, she is now asking for me to gather up my things so she can have my position. She even has the nerves to say I'm going to be her assistant. Sabrina, have you mistaken yourself the empress of this company just because Master Ryan took an interest in you? You must have gone insane!"
Every person in the office was terrorized by Linda's frantic speech, though the women remained supportive of her. Even the male designers who spoke out in Sabrina's place had to agree that Sabrina was going too far.
However, the Design Director happened to walk into the office followed by Ryan behind her as soon as Linda was done with her speech.
"Linda, are you trying to get yourself fired? Without Sabrina's help today, not only will you be required to pay ten thousand dollars, you would have lost your job as well! Most importantly, your reputation in the industry would have been forever ruined," the Design Director deadpanned. 1
"Director..." Linda paled in fear at the Director's warning.
"It was Sabrina who pleaded for your case to me just now." The Design Director rolled her eyes at Linda." She was also kind enough to withdraw her request for the ten thousand dollars you were supposed to pay her. Can you imagine how forgiving a person has to be to do that? Not only is she much more superior in terms of operation, she was also better at monitoring the actual construction in comparison to you.
Working for her as her assistant would only benefit you. Do you deem it appropriate to talk back to your supervisor from the very beginning? You just take it a s your privilege to bully newcomers, don't you?"
The Director could not have been clearer at where she stood on the situation. She was officially announcing that Sabrina would continue to work here and was promoted to head designer, whereas Linda would be working under her as her assistant. With that, Sabrina had become Linda's direct supervisor.
Linda looked over at the Design Director pitifully and pleaded, "Director, I've worked for this for three, no, four years now. You are familiar with the quality of the designs I work for, how could you get some bumpkins who had only worked the sites to be my supervisor? So she has field experience, but what does she know about art? A woman who couldn't even dress properly wouldn't know the first thing about beauty!"
"Linda, if you are not happy about this, quit right now! No one is forcing you to stay! You say that Sabrina is a bumpkin who doesn't know how to dress herself, but have you ever tried thinking about it from a different angle? Had she known how to dress as well as you do, you would have looked like a wrinkly hag next to her!" Ryan reprimanded Linda mercilessly from behind the Design Director. 1
"Director Poole," Linda decided to risk it by playing cute in hope to appeal to Ryan, "you weren't like this before, you have always been so nice and polite to girls in this company."
"I am still very polite and caring towards the female employees of this establishment!" Ryan sneered. "But that does not come in the way of my role as the shareholder of this company and as a shareholder, what's most important to me is to retain talent.
Sabrina had helped to resolve two incidents in one single day, anyone who messes with someone as skilled is standing in my way of making profit! I invested in this company because you are earning money for me, not so that you can bully some of the best assets among the employees into quitting! I don't care how pretty, how sexy or how attractive you think you are, but I am sending any individual who affects the profit of my operation packing! All things aside, I a m never short of women!"
