Sabrina shook her head decisively. She knew her place and would never attempt to overstep the boundaries. Sebastian might have treated her with care by teaching her how to drive and taking her to register for a marriage certificate. They were sleeping i n the same bed every night and were practically a married couple in real life, but still, Sabrina did not consider herself anyone important to Sebastian. In her mind, he was likely treating her with respect simply because she was the mother of his child, and any affection she had received so far was merely a reflection to how much Sebastian loved his daughter. 1
Sabrina thought it was below her to try and be anything that she wasn't. Back when she was a child living under the Lynn Family's roof, she wasn't given much to eat. She never had the chance to try any sort o f candies or snacks but Serene was never deprived of those. She would often make a point to devour those snacks in front of Sabrina, but Sabrina would never bother with her or beg to have a try at the snacks. She had always remained her careless facade despite how isolated and disheartened she felt deep inside, and she intended on carrying on with life the same way. 1
She grinned half-heartedly as though she was not bothered by a thing. Her expression was distant when she said, "It's expected of you to take Aino and visit her grandparents and great-grandparents every week,
but I...I'd rather not go." She meant every word from the bottom of her heart. She had thought that Sebastian did not truly want her to join them and was only asking out of common courtesy.
To her surprise, he grabbed a hold of her arm and with a stern tone and barked, "You are going! Go get change and get Aino to change into something decent as well. You can't expect Aino to show up every time with just her father while her mother is nowhere to be found! The only reason Aino managed to defeat two adult women in one go was because she was fighting for your honour! Why can't you try to think about it in her shoes?"
Damn this woman! He could just strangle her right there and then! He had treated her like a queen, teaching her everything from driving to how to enjoy the nightly pleasure between a married couple. She would crawl up in fear in his arms during the day and scream in ecstasy in his arms night after night, and still she dared to refuse meeting her in-laws without any hesitation. Was she that reluctant to be recognized as a member of the Ford Family? To be Mrs. Ford? Was it because she wouldn't be able to flirt around with Ryan and Nigel, or think about Zayn if she was his wife? 1
Sabrina felt terribly misunderstood as she faced Sebastian's wraith. Just what exactly had she done to deserve this? She personally thought that she was being extremely considerate for not asking anything from him or insisting to follow him to the old Ford residence, so there was no reason for him to be so enraged.
But when she tried to think deeper into it, she rationalized the reason that Sebastian was angry was that he wanted Aino to have a wholesome family. Sebastian was only carrying out the duty of a father, s o how could she say anything against it? She felt reassured that at least Aino had devoted parents that would look after her, that she wouldn't have to go through what Sabrina had in her childhood, having to stray or live at someone's mercy and ending up being framed.
"I...I'm sorry, I didn't think of that. I'll go change right away," she said remorsefully.
