"It's nothing, really," Sabrina smiled gently.
"I have so much to thank you for, would it be possible for me to treat you to dinner?" the mother asked enthusiastically.
Sabrina could never get used to being fawned over, so she simply bowed her head with a smile. When Aino came out of the classroom, she immediately went to take Aino's hand and left shortly after saying goodbye to the mother she was speaking to.
"Oh my, for a woman who is married to such a wealthy powerful man, she sure is humble," the woman exclaimed.
"I agree. It wasn't until now that I realized the higher the status someone has, the more humble they tend to be. Just look at Mrs. Ford, she is almost as approachable as the girl-next-door, while those self-absorbed women with much lower status act all high and mighty," another mother responded sarcastically.
Not far away from them stood three wealthy women. They would often look down on others but after yesterday's lesson, none dared to utter a word.
Wealthy or not, all the mothers in the kindergarten watched enviously as Sabrina strolled off with her daughter, her silhouette elegant while the young child next to her chirped like an excited little sparrow.
"Mommy, I got to know a new friend today!" Aino reported cheerfully.
Sabrina felt a surge of warmth through her heart. She did suffered through hellish torture three days ago, but she was relieved that her daughter was not affected. Aino was happy and was making plenty of friends, and that was enough.
Sabrina squatted down to look at Aino at eye-level. " Well, why don't you tell mommy what kind of friend you got to know today?"
"She is new to our class. We introduced ourselves to each other. Mommy, can I invite my new friend when I have my birthday party?"
"Of course!" Sabrina responded as they walked towards the car.
