Mia watched her enthusiastic husband, understanding his excitement as he had just found his long-lost sister, "Well, he probably thinks I'm thirsty too."
Jade eyed her peculiar friend, her gaze seemed to be questioning Mia, "Keep making up stories and see who believes you!"
Andre also thought his wife's excuse was far too unconvincing. Just last night in the bathroom, she had called him "Old Andre" in a moment of desperation, which had made him very angry. Of course, she was the one who ended up suffering.
After what happened last night, Andre had found an effective way to punish his wife. If she acted up again, he'd have sex with her, and she'd definitely behave the next day. He knew his dear wife all too well by now.
At this moment, Andre realized he might have crossed a line. He let go, allowing Chad to pass the cup of water to Jade.
"Chad, my feet are a bit chilly." Jade cooed.
Chad fetched a blanket from upstairs and covered her legs, even cradling her in his arms.
Mia felt a pang of loneliness.
Andre spoke, "I'll have my assistant buy you a foot warmer. It's getting cold, make sure to keep warm."
Jade thought, "Something's off. Why is my friend's husband being so nice to me?”
Chad's expression darkened, "Mr. Cedillo, I can buy whatever my sister needs. It's getting late. You and Mia should head home."
Getting the boot, Mia felt awkward. She stood up and said, "Um, Chad, Jade, we'll be going then."
Mia pointed at various supplements on the floor and added, "All these were specifically sourced by my husband. They should help Jade's feet recover."
Andre had a preliminary understanding of the Byrne family. He also noticed that Jade was heavily dependent on Chad. After leaving Evergreen Haven, Andre went to start the car while Mia bid Jade goodbye.
"You head back, I'll come visit you another day." Mia said.
Jade pulled Mia aside and whispered, "What's up with your husband today?"
He was harsh on his nephew, beating him until he was hospitalized. Yet, he was so considerate towards her, a stranger, showering her with gifts and health supplements.
Mia glanced at her husband in the car and replied, "Oh, it's nothing. He's just a busybody."
As Mia got in the car and left, she couldn't help but say jealously, "To those who know, Jade is your sister. To those who don't, it's as if you're cheating on me and hitting on my friend."
Before she finished speaking, she got a light tap on the forehead. "Andre, you're treating me worse and worse! You used to pat my head gently. Now, you're hitting my forehead." Mia complained.
Andre glanced at his irritated wife and retorted, "If I wasn't worried about upsetting you, I'd rip my heart out to show you who's the one causing trouble here!"
The troublemaker pouted and whined, "There you go again, saying I'm causing trouble."
Wasn't she already being obedient enough?
Andre retorted, "Which obedient wife would call her husband 'Old Andre'?"
Mia answered, "That's because you upset me first."
During the drive home, Mia chatted non-stop, only to be left at home afterward.
Andre warned her, "Get a good night's sleep when you get home. Don't think about visiting Leo in the hospital."
But Mia who was planning to do just that said, "Leo's all alone in the hospital. It's pitiful."
