Behind Jade, another classmate followed.
In the middle of the most lively moment, a sudden sound was heard as someone accidentally slipped into the water.
"Crap, Jade's fallen into the water!" Someone suddenly yelled out.
Mia quickly turned her head towards the pool. Jade was still clothed and struggling in the water. She opened her mouth, and countless small bubbles escaped from her nose and mouth. Her eyes couldn't open, as doing so would cause pain. She tried to grab onto something, but couldn't find her footing in the water.
Jade closed her eyes, intending to call out to Mia, but a memory flashed in her mind. "Brother, don't sleep, I'm scared."
"Don't cry, Molly, I'll protect you," a bloodied boy held her tight.
Her dress was also stained with blood, and the boy looked eerily like Andre.
Jade shook her head, her mind filled with an endless ocean, an unfathomable abyss, and in the midst of the sea, she cried out in despair. "Brother, save me, I'm scared."
Her arm hurt and there was a taste of blood in her mouth. She couldn't utter a word in the water.
On the shore, Mia shouted, "Leo, Jade's fallen into the water."
She took off her own cotton jacket as she walked.
Leo was tipsy, his face red. Upon hearing Mia's words, he started coughing. He saw the girl in the pool, and he rushed over, pushing Mia away just as she was about to jump in. And then he plunged into the icy water himself.
He saw Jade, who was still struggling in the water, swam over and helped her keep her head above the water.
Pete hadn't had the chance to save her before Leo jumped in. Leo didn't hesitate to jump into the water in his shirt, not bothering about the cold water or how much he'd had to drink.
Jade's head resurfaced. She coughed violently as Leo guided her to the side.
Mia knelt down and pulled the soaking wet Jade out of the water, wrapping her in the down jacket she'd just removed. Then, she bent down to help pull Leo out of the water as well.
Her hand touched the water, feeling the biting cold. She wanted to pull her hand back, but she knew they must be even colder. Jade also crawled to the shore to help Mia pull Leo out.
People around stopped drinking and started heading towards the pool.
Leo got out of the water, Mia looked at them worriedly.
Leo was shivering from the cold, and he asked Jade, "Are you drunk? You can't swim, why did you go to the pool?"
Jade glared at Pete's friend, "Carl, why did you push me just now?"
Carl saw that the rescuer was Leo who'd had over a dozen drinks, while Pete was slower than Leo who'd been drinking all along. He looked at Pete, and Pete looked at Leo, his heart filled with rage.
What was supposed to be a good opportunity was ruined by him. He spent half a million dollars drinking with Guz, only to have Jade saved by Leo.
Through the pusher's perspective, Mia saw Pete in the back again, the hatred for Leo in his eyes was clear to see.
Mia clenched her tiny fists. The dissatisfaction and anger inside her could no longer be suppressed. She walked up to Carl, punched him in the face, tripped him when he was off guard, and pushed him into the icy pool.
She didn't stop there, turned around to find Pete, grabbed his hair and punched him in the stomach a few times. Before he could react, she also pushed him into the freezing pool, letting them experience the feeling of being hit by cold water.
