The exam had started.
For the first question, Mia began to read out loud, "Usually, the so-called volume of international trade..." Then she looked at the answer choices, "Honey, is it option A?"
Andre nodded, and Mia told Leo and Molly, "The first answer is A. Choose 'The total world exports'."
Molly quickly made her choice, "For the second question, choose C, 'Cost plus freight'."
Andre watched as the three openly cheated in front of him. If he dared to stop them, he probably wouldn't be able to return to his bedroom tonight.
Half an hour later…
"Honey, can you help me calculate this, what should I fill in on this line?" Mia asked.
When it came to math problems, they had to spend some time. Mia, too lazy to lift her pen, asked her husband directly for help. Leo had already started calculating, and Andre was watching him do it. Molly was searching on her phone.
Before long, Leo announced the answer to the problem, "8%".
Mia turned to her husband, "Is that right?"
Andre nodded.
Leo was surprised, "You didn't even calculate. How do you know it's right?"
Andre replied, "I did it in my head."
Mia looked at her husband admiringly, "Honey, I hope our child can be as smart as you."
Andre reminded her, "You have 25 minutes left and 30 questions to go."
Mia quickly moved on to the next question, "Honey, is this right or wrong?" Knowing her husband well, Mia threatened, "If you tell me the answer, I'll give you a kiss. If you don't tell me, then…"
"That one's wrong." Andre said.
"What about the next one?" Mia asked.
"That's wrong too." Andre replied.
…
Thanks to their reliable cheating partner, they all scored full marks when they handed in their papers.
Mia clapped excitedly, and in the dining room, she hugged her husband and kissed him several times, "Honey, I love you so much. We need to do this again for next year's exams."
Molly said in a low voice, "Andre, I'll need a carry next year."
Leo excitedly said, "Uncle, can you teach me to do mental math?"
Andre, hugging his wife, looked at his nephew and said, "As long as you understand the meaning of the formulas, you don't need to memorize them by rote. You can directly write out the equations, and then calculate the answers in your head."
Leo was still a novice. He only remembered the formulas but didn't understand their meanings, so he had to substitute the values in when he encountered problems. It was like a primary school student doing math, who had to mentally recite the order of operations when they saw equations that involved multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. But those who were adept could directly get the answers.
Andre added, "You three did well. All of you answered the previous questions correctly. Only the later judgement questions and multiple-choice questions were rushed, so I gave you the answers. I have to go to the office now. If you have time at home, go over the questions again."
After he finished speaking, he got up and left some instructions for the housekeeper before leaving.
Mia had scored full marks, and she wouldn’t really review. She simply closed her laptop, "Leo, Molly, let's play a game."
