Mia bobbed her head against her husband Andre's chest like a little bobblehead. She hugged him, feeling deeply moved. No one understood her quite like he did.
Cooper, Andre's younger brother, chimed in, “Mom, let Mia be. She’s a matriarch now, remember?”
Andre then advised, “But listen to what Mom and Naomi said. During your postpartum period, all I ask is that you relax and avoid any strenuous activities. You've just had a baby, and it's a huge toll on your body.”
Mia obediently nodded, “I’ll follow your advice, darling.”
Andre smiled, fondly tousling her hair, “Good girl. There might be a treat in store.”
Upon hearing about a treat, Mia's eyes sparkled joyfully, as charming as a crescent moon. Their little boy squirmed in Andre's arms, seemingly asking for his gift... or maybe... he was just hungry!
Many guests were first-timers at Andre's private mansion, even his father Hansen rarely visited. Everyone roamed around as if they were on a sightseeing tour.
When noon arrived, Mia thoughtfully reminded Andre, “Darling, let’s have the kitchen prepare lunch. We can all dine together since everyone is here.”
Andre had already planned it, but hearing it from Mia gave him a warm feeling. The lady of the house had taken her rightful place.
“Sure thing.”
After lunch, the guests gradually left.
Mia privately pleaded with her father, “Dad, please take Mom with you. She’s always nagging me. What if I get postpartum depression? You only have one daughter.”
Andre, however, privately requested his mother-in-law, “Mom, could you stay here for a while? I need you to supervise Mia during her recovery. The staff can't manage her, and Naomi is too soft-hearted.”
If the younger ones were left alone, their son would be the one to suffer.
Aaron, Mia’s father, loved his daughter, while Madison, Andre’s mother, found her son-in-law’s argument reasonable.
So, when leaving, Aaron reluctantly took his wife home, and Madison announced, “I’m staying here to supervise Mia’s recovery.”
Later, Molly went to the hospital with her daughter after leaving Andre's mansion. “Molly, visit your father more often after your mom gets discharged. You, Andre, and Mia have all moved out, leaving your father alone at home.”
Molly felt guilty hearing her father's pitiful plea, “I’m sorry, Dad. I’ve been so preoccupied with Mom’s health, I’ve neglected...”
But then, Molly noticed something odd about her father's face. She immediately uncovered his act, “Wait a minute, Dad. Isn’t Naomi at home too? And Leo and Anya stay over all the time, right? You've just become a grandfather, and you’re probably visiting Maplewood Estates every day. Your social feed must be flooded with your grandson's photos. When do you have time for me?”
Hansen was speechless. Caught red-handed, he blinked awkwardly.
Molly frowned, puzzled, “Dad, did you want me to come home for a reason?”
Hansen shook his head, “I just missed you.”
