When Andre returned to the hospital room, he found Mia happily chatting away with his dad. With Mia around, Hansen's world was far from lonely. She always seemed to have a fun topic up her sleeve.
"You sure you're taking me there?" Hansen asked Mia with hopeful eyes.
Mia nodded, "Absolutely, Leo and I will take you. We hang out there all the time."
Hansen nodded enthusiastically, repeating, "Awesome."
"Oh, you're back. What did the doctor say, which tests should we start with?" Mia asked her husband as he walked in.
Andre with the medical report in hand replied, "One step at a time."
Mia helped Hansen get out of bed and accompanied him with Andre for the tests.
Right around noon, Andre's phone started to blow up. He took four calls about the company's next steps on their way to the other building.
"Let's put that aside for now. I'll handle it when I get back," Andre instructed calmly.
After hanging up, Mia said, "If you're swamped, you should head to the office first. I can handle things here at the hospital."
"Don't worry about it," Andre was hesitant to leave his wife alone at the hospital.
"Don't worry, Andre," Mia reassured. "Dad was arguing with me just now and he didn't even break a sweat. He's clearly fine."
Hansen felt that his daughter-in-law's words were a bit off, but he was indeed fine. "Go on, Andre. Mia will keep me company. Just come pick her up tonight."
Mia also nodded in agreement.
Ignoring their advice, Andre put his phone away and continued to accompany his father for the tests.
As Hansen was inside getting scanned, Mia and Andre sat outside on the chairs. The scorching midday sun shone in through the windows, illuminating the hallway. The chairs were faded from the sunlight, Mia sat there, lifting her head, closing her eyes, basking in the warm sunlight. She felt a bit tired.
The remaining sunlight hit Andre's shoulder, he turned his head to look at his drowsy wife and asked gently, "Tired?"
Mia cracked open her eyes and let out a big yawn. "A bit."
Andre wrapped his arm around Mia's shoulder, letting her rest in his arms, "Lean on me and take a nap, the test is going to take half an hour."
Mia rested her head on Andre's chest, closing her eyes to rest.
Andre's phone was quiet, but he kept receiving messages. With one arm wrapped around his wife and the other dealing with work, the half-hour wait under the setting sun cast a golden glow on the two.
The hallway was quiet, perhaps due to the afternoon lull. Mia thought she wouldn't be able to fall asleep, but in her husband's arms, she slept deeply and even had a nice dream.
In her dream, she and Andre were planting trees. She didn't know what kind of trees they were, but in her dream, she was incredibly happy. The joy from her dream reflected in reality as she let out a soft laugh.
Andre looked at the smile on his wife's face and asked indulgently, "What did you dream about?"
