The Alpha’s Obsession with his Ex-Contract Luna by Glorious Eagle novel Chapter 139

Chapter 139
The father and daughter froze, terrified at the presence of Alpha Nick and the cold sound of his voice, beads of sweat formed on their foreheads.
They saw Alpha Nick leaving, not having the slightest idea that he was still around.
How could they not have been even the least careful in all this?
“Alpha Nick, it’s not what you think,” Alpha Gaius calmly said, hiding his nervousness. His pack was not strong enough to go into a war with the likes of the Dark Moon Pack.
They would not be able to survive it when things were so tough for them.
“I heard everything. You wanted my brother-in-law dead for my sister to turn into a widow?”
Alpha Nick’s expression was so hard, it made both the father and daughter afraid. Alpha Gaius thought of an excuse to give, lest things got out of hand.
“It’s an old score, Alpha Nick. It has nothing to do with you.”
Ever since Alpha Ansaldo got mated to Bree, everything about the Riverbed pack became his business.
The peace and safety of his sister depended on the peace enjoyed by the pack and its members.
“But this involves my sister so it has everything to do with me.”
Alpha Gaius thought once more. Alpha Nick was young enough to be his son but due to a simple mistake, he lost face in the sight of the young man.
This was an unbearable shame for him. “Alpha Ansaldo and my daughter are married but he mated with your sister.”
“What are you talking about?” Alpha Nick asked, pretending that he did not know.
With Alpha Nick’s expression softening even in the slightest, the father and daughter fell for the trap that he knew nothing about the marriage. Alpha Gaius smiled, planning to use it to his advantage.
“That is the problem. You don’t expect me to just sit by and watch my daughter suffer the shame alone, right?”
Their good moment was ruined when an elderly voice interrupted the moment.
Alpha Ansaldo’s father was greatly upset upon hearing the news about the chandelier that would have injured or even killed his son.
As such, he left the gathering when vows were being exchanged to see if he could get any clues, surprised that Alpha Nick had already caught the culprits.
He could not have been happier that his son was paired with Bree.
He had wanted to continue in hiding to hear more but was afraid of Alpha Nick being upset concerning the marital arrangements.
“Alpha Nick, don’t believe him. Ansaldo knew nothing about the marriage. We did it in his absence because we knew he wouldn’t accept it. Fortunately for him and unfortunately for us, he already found his mate.”
Knowing that this matter was going to be made public, Alpha Nick did not want to betray Sheridan’s trust for having told him.
As such, he continued in pretense. “I would not have believed it if you were not my father-in-law and the fact remains that the mate bond is stronger than any marriage certificate. Do you know that these two are trying to murder your son?”
“Honestly, I only heard about the fallen chandelier and came to check. It was due to your interrogation that I heard it,” Ansaldo’s father replied with a sullen expression.

Then he stared at the ceiling where the magnificent chandelier was h o k d before and spoke bitterly.
“This is not an accident. I supervised its installation from months ago. This is a recent manipulation and I’m glad to already know the culprits.”

Alpha Gaius was afraid of the hidden anger in his friend’s tone. He and Alpha Ansaldo’s father had been very good friends over the years and were now on the path of being sworn enemies.
Well, he wasn’t guilty until proven and said, “I hope you are not insinuating that we had something to do with it? We were just talking,” he smiled profoundly. Alpha Nick scoffed and did not make it easy for him.
“They tampered with it to cause an accident but things turned against them. Since you are an older Alpha, am I right to trust you to handle this?” Alpha
Nick asked his brother-in-law’s father.
With the elderly man’s involvement, he could no longer take matters into his own hands.
“Alpha Nick, do you have proof of what you are saying?” Alpha Gaius asked anxiously, looking for every means to escape. “This is just a misunderstanding. Let’s not miss the coronation.
Alpha Nick was unrelenting, not willing to let them out of his sight until the proof was out.
“It’s my only sister’s coronation and yet, I am here. Why the haste when neither Ansaldo nor Bree are your relatives?”
“I can stay here with them for you to check the CCTV footage in your room. That is what they are looking to destroy now,” Alpha Nick casually revealed, earning a slight suspicion from Ansaldo’s father.
“How did you know the CCTV footage server
was in my
room?”
Alpha Nick shrugged. This was not something he even had to think about.
“Ansaldo is too busy to be checking those. You are the only one free to do it, just like my father does for us.”
Satisfied with his answer, Ansaldo’s father smiled. “Thanks a lot. That gives me enough grounds to dissolve the marriage before the stipulated time and to also not have any relationship with them.”
“No, it’s a mistake,” Alpha Gaius pleaded, afraid his pack would not be able to withstand any attack if it so happened.
That was his reason for needing this collaboration but who knew it was going to turn out this way?
Alpha Ansaldo slipped through their fingers and now, his relationship with the Riverbed pack was also going to be destroyed.
“A mistake? The mistake is the fact that I let you in. If my son had died from your supposedly planned accident? Is that the same thing you would have
told me?”
Ansaldo’s father was not taking it lightly since he was an only child.
“Please, let’s talk about this,” Alpha Gaius was saying when Alpha Nick’s phone rang.
Being Beta Dustin, he felt it was urgent and answered it.
“Alpha Nick, it’s about Daisy.”
