Chapter 24 

Sheila yawned, visibly annoyed by the question. If a powerful Alpha like Nick, with all his resources, could not investigate the matter concerning Charlotte’s disappearance thoroughly, deciding to rely on the mate bond, then what has that got to do with her?

Besides, Alpha Nick would never believe her. He might think she was doing it out of jealousy. Finally, she had a great responsibility on her hands, so how could she get entangled in their mess? 

“I’m afraid I don’t know what you are talking about. I guess I’ve drunk too much,” she shrugged. 

Beta Gustav knew that it wasn’t true but didn’t expose her. Whatever it was Sheila was hiding, he was equally interested. Sheila was very much alert as she had not drunk much.

Alpha Nick stared keenly at her before asking seriously, “Do you know anything about the kidnapping?”

“What? You think that I hired some thugs to kidnap her?” Sheila was very much disappointed as Alpha Nick revealed his suspicions. 

“She disappeared on our wedding day, and you appeared at the same time. It couldn’t just be a coincidence, right?”

Sheila was lost for words at his suspicious analysis. How could she not have known that Alpha Nick was so obsessed with the mate bond, making him lose his sense of logical reasoning?

When Sheila locked eyes with him, she felt like the last drop of hope she had in him reduced to zero. “You know what? If you think that I have a hand in her disappearance, then you don’t know me. What did I even see in you? Alpha Nick, I’m very disappointed.”

She didn’t mince words this time and without giving room for another word from him, Sheila walked to the car

with Goldie, her heart burning with pain.

Alpha Nick watched helplessly until that yellow Ferrari disappeared in the distance. Why did he suddenly feel so empty? He didn’t feel that way when Charlotte left. Maybe, it was because he would see her again tomorrow.

As for Sheila, their next meeting would finalize their divorce. The woman who used to walk on eggshells around him suddenly grew some horns right after leaving him. Alpha Nick was conflicted.

Beta Gustav was about to walk back into the club when Alpha Nick’s anger directed at him. If Alpha Nick had not followed Charlotte because of his discomfort of what she wore, who knows what would have happened between

Gustav and Sheila? 

For some reason, he never wanted to see them together, no matter what. It was the same for any other man, be it an Alpha or Beta. Alpha Nick did not want even the Alpha King to get close to Sheila.

“Even after divorce, you have no right to chase after a woman who was once mine,” he warned seriously. Beta Gustav was upset. He might not know the genesis of the story but had heard enough to know that the marriage

was a contract.

“Alpha Nick, with all due respect, your marriage was a contract, which means that you never even marked each other. She looks pretty free to me.” Thus, Gustav was not going to back down.

Alpha Nick was not liking his attitude and thought to spell it clearly. “Beta Gustav, are you ready to lead your pack to war for her?“–

Beta Gustav’s face fell. He didn’t have that power. Alpha Nick sighed. “Well, this is my last warning. Stay away

from my wife.”

At that, he sat in his car and drove away. Beta Gustav was perplexed as he had no intention to obey Alpha Nick.
