Ysabel raised her eyebrows in surprise, "You've been off your food lately, haven't you?"
Brittany used to love seafood, but now she found it fishy?
Taking a sip of her juice, Brittany was at a loss herself. It felt as if the smell of meat was amplified a thousand times, making her nauseous just by the scent, let alone eating it.
"Even this morning, I felt sick just smelling milk..."
Ysabel, who had been through it all, seemed to catch on to something, hinting, "When was your last period?"
"It's always been pretty irregular."
With her busy schedule and high stress levels, Brittany hadn't paid much attention to her irregular periods.
Ysabel scrutinized Brittany closely, "Maybe you should, you know, get a pregnancy test?"
She had been pregnant before, and Brittany's symptoms seemed all too familiar.
But then again, she found it hard to believe. Brittany and Eltham had just announced their engagement; it seemed too soon for a pregnancy...
Brittany instinctively rejected the idea, but then she remembered that night in Imperial City. After a night of passion, she was whisked away to the police station for an investigation in Craneville and forgot to take her birth control!
Could it be from that night?
Brittany clenched her juice glass, trying to suppress her anxiety, "It's probably nothing. I've been super busy lately, so it's not unusual for my period to be irregular."
"And I've had stomach issues recently; even saw a doctor."
"It's unlikely I'm pregnant."
Despite her words, Brittany lost her appetite, her mind racing with the details of the past few weeks, feeling increasingly uneasy.
Seeing her denial, Ysabel dropped her suspicions.
Brittany had been living like a nun lately; how could she possibly be pregnant?
"Alright then."
After talking with Ysabel, Brittany drove home, passing by a pharmacy on the way. On a whim, she stopped and bought a pregnancy test kit.
Once home, she avoided Yuri and went straight to the bathroom.
Brittany sat waiting for the result.
