The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 247

After Jason left, Susan pushed open the door and glanced at her daughter huddled in the corner, feeling a bit disgruntled.

"I've told you to be careful, but you still managed to screw up big time."

Susan was always a master manipulator, but she didn't expect Loraine to blow her cover so easily.

Choking back tears, Loraine asked, "Mom, what now?"

"What are you scared of? Derek likes you. Just explain to him, apologize, show some sincerity, and have a few drinks with him. Once things are stable between you two, he won't refuse to marry you, will he?"

Susan huffed and poked Loraine's forehead, "You haven't learned a thing. Brittany is way better than you. Look at her; she’s already got Zac wrapped around her finger. You should learn from her."

Loraine was taken aback for a moment, then seemed to understand something, "But, I..."

"Given the current situation, you being with Zac is not happening. So, go marry Derek."

Susan explained, "Even though the Bishop family has seen better days, they still have some clout. Besides, Derek likes you and won't give you a hard time. Have his kid early, then gently persuade him to make his family great again. When the time comes, I'll get your father to give you some support. He's no worse than Isaac."

Susan might not be good at many things, but she was skilled at reading people.

Derek had potential; he just needed to seize the right opportunity.

Loraine was moved, "I understand, Mom."

"Get some rest."

After Susan left, Loraine looked at the mess around her, biting her lip in frustration. It took her a while to snap out of it.

...

Brittany stepped out of the conference room, and her secretary drew near, "Mr. Dustin, the police station called. Robert wants to see you."

Brittany's grip on the documents tightened slightly as she said, "All right. You can go now."

Robert wanted to see her at this critical time?

Was he begging for mercy? Or did he have other motives?

For the past two weeks, Brittany had tried not to think about Donna Dustin. But now, Robert had ripped off that band-aid, and she had to push down her grief and return to the office.

She put down the documents and took a while to regain her composure.

After work, Brittany messaged Isaac before taking a cab to the police station.

She wanted to know what Robert had to say.
