"Derek, if you consider me a bud and give a damn about Zakky, I wish you'd quit yapping like that." Brittany cut Derek off, "Loraine is your fiancée. It’s your job to watch her back, I am not gonna interfere, but I've got every right not to forgive her."
"Hannah, let's roll."
Hannah chuckled, then turned to leave.
Loraine, pale as a ghost, leaned on Derek, playing the sympathy card.
But Derek said, "Loraine, Brittany is the victim here. You need to stay outta her face."
Loraine widened her eyes in disbelief. Derek had always had her back, but now he was telling her to stop messing with Brittany.
Brittany, was she even trying to snatch Derek from her too?
She clenched her fists tightly, her eyes filled with restraint, and after a long while, she grunted in agreement.
Half past eight in the evening, the host walked onto the stage and picked up the mic, "Ladies and gents, good evening, welcome to Marcel and Zella's engagement party..."
The engagement party officially began, and everyone's attention was drawn.
Zella was stunning, and Marcel, although wheelchair-bound, was still a sight to behold.
Brittany looked at his face, feeling a sense of familiarity.
"What's the matter?"
"Marcel, he kinda looks like Zakky..." Brittany felt uneasy. She'd seen his photo before and thought Marcel was just handsome.
But now, she realized that Marcel wasn't just handsome. He bore some resemblance to Zakky.
Was this... a coincidence?
Worried that Brittany would discover the truth, Hannah cleared her throat, "It's a big world, full of surprises. A minor resemblance doesn't mean anything."
Brittany felt Hannah had a point. A slight resemblance didn't mean anything.
The engagement party went smoothly. In the presence of their guests, Zella and Marcel completed the engagement ceremony.
Manuel, down in the audience, was very pleased, waiting for the ceremony to end.
He slowly got up and walked onto the stage, step by step.
Isaac stood deep in the garden, coldly scanning the crowd, observing this farce.
"I thank you all for attending my son Marcel's engagement party."
