Isaac gave Nathan a few comforting words, then Nathan took Isaac to Joie's apartment after work.
...
After work, Brittany went straight to the Chester family's place.
Hannah hadn't fully recovered yet, so Brittany brought lots of health supplements for her.
"You're here."
After seeing what she had brought, Hannah touched her forehead helplessly, "There are so many supplements; how long will it take to finish them all?"
Brittany put down the stuff, "How are you feeling?"
"I'm a lot better. You guys are overly concerned about this. If it were up to me, I would have gone back to work."
Brittany helped Hannah downstairs, "You should take a good rest for a while; consider it as taking a paid annual leave."
Who didn't love a paid vacation?
After having dinner at the Chester family's place, Brittany accompanied Hannah for a walk. They didn't return home until after ten.
When she opened the door, Isaac still wasn't back.
Brittany thought he might have been working overtime, so she didn't text him. She went to the bathroom, and when she came out, it was almost eleven.
She turned on the heater, filling the living room with warmth. Wrapped in a blanket, she idly watched the news until late in the night.
Suddenly, the door opened, and Brittany, looking over sleepily, greeted him at the door. "You're back."
Isaac was a bit surprised, clearly not expecting Brittany to wait up for him.
He changed his shoes, set down his briefcase, and walked into the living room, "Why didn't you go back to your room?"
"I was worried about you."
Brittany put her hand around his neck. She wasn't sure if she was imagining it, but she smelled perfume on him. Frowning, she asked, "Did you put on perfume?"
Isaac's face slightly changed, and he realized it was the scent of Joie's perfume.
"I attended some social activities tonight; they must've gotten it on me unintentionally."
Isaac grabbed her hand, "You go to bed first; I need to wash up."
He took off his coat, tossed it on the sofa, and went into the bathroom.
Brittany watched his discarded coat on the sofa, then reached out and picked it up. When it fell, something made a ‘clink’ sound.
It was a piece of candy.
