Isaac didn't give a damn about her indifference; he was used to it.
He opened the dessert and handed it to her, "I consulted the doctor; you've been getting better these days. Just a little more rest, and you're out of here."
Brittany looked at the Taro Tiramisu he brought back and had a taste, "No need. I want to stay here a bit longer."
Busting out of the hospital was way easier than busting out of Radiant Residences.
Isaac felt a weight lift off his shoulders when he saw her cooperating with the treatment. He comforted her for a bit and then took a call. He didn't want Brittany to overthink, so he picked it up right in front of her.
After a few words on the phone, Isaac got up and left.
His voice wasn't loud, but Brittany still caught words like "engagement banquet", "reporter" and "media".
He was probably on the phone with Shona.
Brittany suddenly lost her appetite. She wasn't in the mood for eavesdropping.
As soon as she turned on her phone, it started vibrating.
She picked it up and saw that it was Lionel.
It looked like Joie's news came through.
She had contacted Hannah several times while she was locked up in the hospital, and Isaac knew all about their chats. She could guess that there might be some spyware on her phone.
She answered the call, and Lionel's voice echoed in her ear.
"Bri."
"Bro, happy new year."
Lionel was relieved to hear her voice as calm as usual, "You've been avoiding us these days; we've been worried sick."
"Bro, I'm good now."
"You and Isaac..."
"Let's talk about it when I'm out."
Brittany propped herself up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, looking down at the whole city and having a sense of overlooking the world.
There was a layer of steam on the window, and she absentmindedly doodled on it.
Hearing that, Lionel said, "I see. Rest well. We'll pick you up when you're discharged."
