She should've known better. How on earth would a smart guy like Isaac ever seriously marry her?
Her marriage.
Her kids.
Her grandma.
All were part of Isaac's cunning plan!
Lucky for her, she never fell for it.
Before Joie left, she tossed a bank card on the table.
"Take this dough and scram, Brittany!" she said and left.
The door slammed shut behind her.
Brittany swiped everything off her desk in a fit of anger.
Files, a glass, picture frames—all crashed to the floor, the clatter deafening.
Hearing that Joie had been there and left Brittany in a fit of rage, Kari Malone was restless.
She ditched work and hurried to Brittany's office.
"Bri, are you okay?" she asked.
Inside the office, Brittany wiped her face hard. She stuffed the files into a drawer, then took a deep breath. "I'm fine. You go on."
Kari hesitated for a few seconds, then left.
Brittany collapsed into her chair. It took her a while to get up and gather her paperwork to take home.
When she got home, she noticed the AC was on.
There were noises coming from the kitchen.
"You're home." William poked his head out of the kitchen and said.
Seeing the tears welling up in Brittany's eyes, he looked surprised.
He put down what he was doing and quickly walked toward her. "What's wrong?"
Brittany choked back her bitterness, trying to stay rational. "Isaac and I are getting a divorce."
