The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart novel Chapter 824

Chapter 824

Nathan leaned in, whispering a few words into Isaac’s ear.

Word had come from the police; Joie had confessed but refused to admit she had live on the internet.

“She won’t admit she started the stream?”

“That’s right. But the cops checked her social media accounts. She definitely logged into the dark web recently.”

“Lies!” Isaac clenched his eyes shut, struggling to contain his frustration. “Keep the pressure on!”

After Nathan left, the doctors came to report Brittany’s condition. Learning that she was mostly unharmed, Isaac finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Once the doctors had left, Isaac approached Brittany’s bedside, pouring her a glass of water. “The doc says the cut on your face is healing nicely. You might not even need cosmetic surgery later.”

He had spared no expense on the best treatments, all to ensure not a single scar would mar her face.

Brittany’s face lit up with relief. “That’s fantastic.”

Isaac had stayed by Brittany’s side for days, and during that time, Grace had visited too.

“Bri, you’ve been through an ordeal,” Grace said softly, her voice tinged with guilt.

Brittany, still weak from her recent awakening, couldn’t muster the strength to discuss the incident.

Grace couldn’t bring herself to make excuses for Joie, let alone plead on her behalf.

Despite Joie being accused of assault and the evidence against her being irrefutable, she still refused to admit to the live stream.

The situation had reached a stalemate.

Brittany spent nearly a week in the hospital recovering.

William and Kari came to visit together, bringing a touch of cheer to the sterile room.

William, ever since his divorce, seemed reinvigorated, his demeanor both gentle and handsome.

He set down a bouquet of sunflowers and handed over some scar treatment creams. “Feeling any better?”

“Much,” Brittany replied with a grateful smile.

After a brief chat, William excused himself to answer a phone call, leaving Kari to broach a delicate subject.

“Brittany, I heard Joie won’t admit to the stream,” Kari said, setting down her gift of flowers and fruit.

“Is that so?” Brittany took a sip of water, unfazed.

Of course, Joie would deny it. The person who went live wasn’t Joie at all.

“She’s still reaching out to Grace,” Kari scoffed. “After what she’s done to you, if the Salter family still intervenes, they’re clearly not putting you first!”

“Let it be,” Brittany soothed. “You focus on work. I’ll handle this once I’m discharged.”

Kari pursed her lips in frustration but nodded. “Your studio is safe with me.”

Once Kari had left, Brittany picked up her phone and dialed a number. “Erase all traces. Don’t let anyone find out who really started that stream.”

“Ms. Dustin, about the inquiry you made, we’ve got a lead.”

“Go on.”

“The old research institute was closely linked with Imperial City. Rumor has it, the backers are some of the city’s elite.”.

“Who?”

“We haven’t pinpointed them yet. They’re careful.”

Brittany massaged her temple. “Keep digging.”

The institute’s sponsors were among Imperial City’s powerful families. Uncovering the puppet masters behind the scenes wouldn’t be easy.

Joie remained stubbornly silent, persistently reaching out to Grace.

But it was Isaac who showed up eventually.

“Bro Isaac,” Joie stood up instinctively as he entered. “Thank God you’re here. You believe me, right? I didn’t start the stream.”
