The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 342

"Mom's got a stash of 20 grand, should be enough to keep us afloat." Grace said, pulling a bank card from her pocket and handing it to Allison.

Allison looked at the card. She recognized it. The money on it was supposed to be for her dad and brother's living expenses. Despite Grace being seriously ill and hospitalized, she never thought of touching this fund. But why was she bringing it up now?

Was there something more pressing than her illness?

"Mom, what's going on?" Allison watched Grace's expression, her radar up, "Did Christopher and Leah threaten you? Was it them?"

Grace shook her head, "No, they didn't come to me. I just want to get out of here. Allie. Didn't you say you wanted to leave Northfield with me?"

"Mom, I have a stable job now, and my monthly income is enough to support you. Plus, I'm graduating next year. If we leave Northfield now, I'll have to find a new job in a new city, and who knows if the pay will be as good. I do want to leave, but we need to be realistic." Allison said.

...

That night, Allison lay on her bed, mulling over Grace's odd behavior.

She sat up. Could it really be that Christopher or Leah had threatened her mother? The Flanagan family was such a pain in the ass! Her mother and she had already backed down so many times! They actually had the audacity to force them out of Northfield! Was Leah so afraid of Penelope's secret coming out? But Penelope was already pregnant, and she promised not to spill the beans about what happened. Then why were they still threatening her mother? And Leah, even threatened Sarah to fire her!

Allison found it all a bit laughable. Her staying in Northfield was that big of a threat to Leah and Penelope? Was all this fuss really necessary?

Initially, Allison did want to save enough money to leave this place with her mother and settle down in a quiet, beautiful city for the rest of their lives.

But now, Allison had changed her mind. She was determined to hold her own in this city and make sure Penelope and Leah paid their dues!

As long as Penelope and Leah stopped bothering her and her mother, she would keep the hotel's secret. But if they hurt her and her mother again, she would fight back!
