The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 603

Abbey looked at him with curiosity, "Who was that on the phone?"

The number had rung three or four times, and when Robbie didn't pick up, a text came through, "Robbie, it's me, Steven."

Robbie let out a huge sigh of relief and quickly answered the call.

"Steven, why'd you change your number?"

On the other end was Steven, an old buddy from Robbie's hustling days. Steven was five years older, had made some good investments, and was now living comfortably. He said, "I moved to Eastville for a bit and got a new number. Just got back yesterday and thought of you. Let's catch up, grab a drink, and reminisce."

Robbie, currently laying low because of a compromising video, wasn't up for socializing. "Steven, I can't really go out... I've got a cold and can't drink. Sorry."

Steven sounded concerned, "That's a shame. You seem off lately. Got any problems? Money troubles? Just let me know. I may not be loaded, but I can lend you a few bucks. Don't hesitate."

Robbie, dodging loan sharks and finding no help from friends or family, was touched. "Thanks, brother. Let's do it tonight. We'll find a quiet spot and have a proper chat over some beers."

"Great. I've been away from Northfield for years, you pick the place."

Abbey chimed in, "Who was that? Are you going out? It's pretty dangerous right now..."

"Don't worry, it's an old friend. It'll be fine. Just stay here, and I'll be back later."
