The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 606

Emma knew the score.

Grace and Allison's love had fizzled out, but that didn't mean Allison shouldn't be in the loop. After all, the ties that bind might loosen, but the heart still holds on.

Emma had once walked the same path as Allison, turning her back on family. But when she heard her grandmother was gravely ill, she couldn't stay away. Her heart might have turned cold, but she needed to see her grandmother one last time.

Allison's voice crackled over the phone. "Are you at the hospital yet?"

"Stuck in traffic. Should be there in about half an hour," Emma replied.

"Got it," Allison said before hanging up. She sank into the couch and turned on the TV to break the silence. A popular family drama flickered on the screen, a big hit from a well-known production company, with top-tier acting.

On the screen, a mother slapped her daughter. "I've fed and clothed you all these years, and you can't even take care of your brother? When your father and I are old, he'll be the one you can rely on."

The daughter just wanted to escape to college, to leave behind a family that favored sons over daughters.

Allison sighed deeply and switched off the TV.

She stared at the dark screen, lost in thought. She got up, opened the fridge, and took out a bottle of wine. It wasn't strong, just a light grape flavor. She took a couple of swigs, leaned against the fridge, and closed her eyes. Emma's words echoed in her mind.

Grace was on life support.

Was she really going to die?

Allison never wished for her death...

There was a time when all she wanted was for Grace to be healthy.

After a moment's hesitation, she dialed Tom's number, asking him to wait downstairs with his car. She changed her clothes, put on sunglasses, and headed out.
