The Billionaire's Maid Bride novel Chapter 620

Abbey had been itching to ditch Robbie for ages, especially now that he'd managed to piss off the Flanagan clan and fool around with Penelope. Since the Flanagans had gotten tight with the Lindbergs, Northfield’s top-tier family, Robbie was skating on thin ice.

She wasn’t about to go down with his sinking ship.

“Yeah, we’re both holed up at the Blue Club,” she said.

Steven, fishing for more info, asked, “Why are you guys at the Blue Club? Is Robbie good pals with the owner or something?”

“Not exactly. Robbie racked up some serious debt with Darian—you know, that loan shark who’d squeeze blood from a stone. When Robbie couldn’t pay up, the Blue Club’s owner, Hughes, mysteriously settled his tab. Now Robbie’s stuck there under Hughes’ watchful eye, basically under house arrest. He’s not allowed to leave or talk to anyone outside. Word is, he crossed someone big—oh, right…” Abbey lowered her voice, “The Flanagan family. Just the other day, Mr. Kenneth got stabbed. Scared the hell out of us.”

“Hughes got stabbed?” Steven gasped. “When did that happen?”

“Just yesterday, in the early hours.”

Abbey patted her chest, still shaken. “When I went downstairs, there was blood everywhere. It’s got the Flanagans’ fingerprints all over it, probably trying to shut people up.”

“And what did Robbie do to get on the Flanagans' bad side?”

Abbey saw no reason to hold back from Steven. “Back in the day, he had a thing with Penelope and got his hands on some compromising videos. Now that Penelope’s about to marry into high society, they’re worried those old tapes might resurface. They’ve been hunting Robbie down, and he’s been scared stiff, hiding out.”

“I see. Lily, you must be starving. Let me take you out to eat. Is there any fancy restaurant around here? I’m new to Northfield and could use some guidance.”
